ok im planning to get xp hom eon my home pc amd athlon xp 1700+ abit KG7 80Gb HD 512 Mem ok soo whats the difference of upgrading from win2k to doing a full install and whatsis the win xp home oem verision???? plz tell and whould u remomend oem??

I receive the following info when loading Adobe Reader 7.0 from their website.
C:\Docume~1\Lyndsay~1\Locals~1\Temp\psa3osc_ytb612_a708_
Followed with open Folder Options and create an association.
Click on "OK"
Then the following appears:
Last error: 1155
Click on "OK"
Then the next box appears:
Unable to launch AOM File. Create process return code: 10479172.
I have delted prior versions of Adobe. Nothng seems to happen.
If you can by of any assistance, I would truly appreciate same.

I've asked this question of several people who consider themselves computer braniacs. Alas, no one even has a plausible guess, much less an answer.

For the past several years on 3 different pcs I've found in c:\Windows Explorer\Programs\ executable applications which, when double-clicked to open, give me a file full of hockey pucks written in gibberish. The file starts with the initials MZ and a little space down the page is "THIS PROGRAM CANNOT RUN IN MS DOS!" (I'm not shouting, I'm quoting. Text is in all caps.)

Looking at them in Windows file tree, these files look like any other program. They have cute little icons and everything. Type of file is "Application".

All the research I've done has hit a dead end.

I'm betting on you kind folks out in www land for some help.

Any thoughts?

I am having an issue with Windows XP. it keeps shutting down and restarting on it s own. I get an error message that says "Your computer has recovered from a serious error". I have anti spyware and anti virus but it's still happening. Do I need to take the computer somewhere to have it fixed or is there something I can do myself to fix it. Please help!

ok i know i asked a question like this already but the answers didn't quite help. i just got a web cam and i wan't to use it with my friend on AIM. my friend doesn't have a web cam but is there a way that my friend can still see me and i just wont be able to see my friend? my friend and i only have AIM so is it posible to do it on that? if it is, please tell me how. thanks.

I live in Arizona. It's hot, dry and dusty. How hot is too hot to use the computer? Will using it when it's 100 or hotter damage it?

I have tried booting up in safe mode and clearing viruses. I have tried using "Last configuration" and i have tried to restore my pc to an earlier time but every time I try to boot the computer up normally the monitor just goes blank after the first windows xp screen comes up. Nothing is wrong with my moniotor and I don't know what is going on. Help!

My friend informed me to be very carefully while using the ccleaner for cleaning the registry. Sometimes you can mess up your pc, if you have no knowledge about registery. By the way, i am using yahoo anti spy & macfee (anti-virus), dont you guys think they are enough for cleaning job ?

What are some Windows Features would you like to have in the future? I have tried Windows 3.1/ Windows 95/ Windows 98/ Windows NT/ Windows XP HE&PRO...pretty much all windows except Media Center. They all seem to have the same look and feel and the same controls, etc. What new feature that has never been implemented or that might improve quality would you add to Windows? I think I would want a new password method to lock Windows. Maybe a fingerprint scan...they do that for the lockers in theme parks, I think it would be cool to have that for Windows folders and login. Or hell, just make everything touch screen and make it afforadable. I think the security needs improvement.
