I have tried booting up in safe mode and clearing viruses. I have tried using "Last configuration" and i have tried to restore my pc to an earlier time but every time I try to boot the computer up normally the monitor just goes blank after the first windows xp screen comes up. Nothing is wrong with my moniotor and I don't know what is going on. Help!

Ok just insert windows xp CD and install a new copy of windows xp before installing, it searches for previously installed operating system's, if found it asks you to repair or install a new copy press 'r' to repair follow the steps onscreen and you are done.

rabbani has it going on! Using the repair will save you a lot of grief. You won't lose data or programs, you'll just repair the corrupt files in Windows XP. After your repair is done, do get AVG anti-virus, Spy-bot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, and Windows Defender. Update them and run them faithfully.
