1999 Toyota Corolla with 55,000 miles, auto trans.
Took to my independent mechanic, 1 man who does all the work. I have been taking cars to him for 8 yrs and never had any problems with him, and trust all his work.
Took this car to him for a few routine maint. things....he put in 4 new spark plugs, replacing the AC plugs that were in there with NGK plugs, and replaced air filter, and he cleaned and adjusted rear brakes.
The gas mileage has dropped from 35 miles per gallon to 25 miles per gallon ( immediately after mechanic did this work)
Should I take it back to mechanic and see if he can do anything?

While driving this afternoon I made a bad judgment call; I thought I wouldn't have time/room to stop at an intersection and actually entered the intersection after the light had turned red. Returning that way later, I noticed that the intersection has those cameras mounted above the lights. What are the chances that I will get a ticket in the mail?

I vaguely remember hearing some time ago (10, 15 years ago?) that the State of Michigan had - for at least a brief period - dropped the requirement that people take a road test before getting their driver's license for the first time. The reason had to do with the state's budget, and it caused a bit of a stir. Is this true? If not, did something similar happen, maybe in another state, or just in parts of Michigan, such as Detroit? It seems like a crazy thing to do. Please provide supporting evidence if you have it. I'm just curious.

I looked at a hybrid Toyota Highlander and the mileage was not much different than a regular Highlander -- within a few mpg's of each other. But the hybrid has 80% less emissions. So you are putting in about the same amount of gas and getting 80% less emissions out. Where does the difference go? Or how is this explained?

I want a tax disk holder, steering wheel cover and maybe seat covers. It would have to be hot pink. If that would look rubbish, which colours would work? I really want to personalise my first car and pink is so my colour.

Just about 2 months ago I turned 18, but I still don't drive. Many people find it pathetic and sad. I've been working for about two years but I'm almost broke. I want to be able to drive my self around with out having others drive me around. Whats the best way to save up money if your my age?
