I have a small alum boat, about 8', and it has a slow leak as a result of bouncing up on some rocks during a storm. The hull has many small dents in it. I am not sure where it is leaking, and if I can find the leak, which i think i can, i am wondering what is a good way to fix an alum boat. note: it has rivets on the seams. thanks

I understand that a newly plated hull will need to be primed before being antifouled. But I have since been told that because my boat is a static houseboat in Seawater that I dont need to treat it with Antifoul, and that a good quality primer will suffice? I have also been told that I can maybe use "Bitchumen" instead? Can anyone shed any light for me please, my Hull will soon be finished and iv got to make a decision quickly as to the route im going to take! Thanks ever so much :))

I've been looking around for a small, 12-16' fishing boat to use for camping far up north. I've heard fiberglass breaks easily if we accidentally hit rocks or ground it onto a beach. Do they? Or should I shell out more for an aluminium boat? I'm trying to minimize maintenance as well so I can enjoy more time on the water.

How long, and how far, can an unmanned sailboat float in the Pacific Ocean? What about bigger boats, yachts and cruise ships maybe?

I'm about to purchase a trailer to carry my 12ft boat and I have never driven with a trailer. The boat is quite small so I hope it's not too much of a big difference. I know some basics such as making wide right turns, giving more time to acelerate and break, giving more space ahead, giving more space to pass, and also not loading the boat too much in the rear or front but rather balancing it. I plan on practicing in a parking lot (mostly reversing and turning) once i get the trailer but are there any other tips I could use? Where could I read up on this? I also need to know how to secure the boat onto the trailer as well as the trailer onto the vehicle. How much more difficult is it than driving regularly?

I have an aluminum block engine in my wakeboard boat which is built for the lakes, now i live on salt water and was wondering the effect saltwater would have on the engine block as water goes through to cool it.

When I take my boat on long rides, it will start smoking (white smoke) quite a bit at some points - I am not sure if it is steam or smoke, but when I turn the boat off for a second and start it back up it won't be smoking anymore - I understand this could be a cooling issue, or it could be dirty gas - how can I diagnose this. The boat seems to be running at around 185 degrees.
