I have a small alum boat, about 8', and it has a slow leak as a result of bouncing up on some rocks during a storm. The hull has many small dents in it. I am not sure where it is leaking, and if I can find the leak, which i think i can, i am wondering what is a good way to fix an alum boat. note: it has rivets on the seams. thanks

first find the leak - put boat on a trailer or up off the ground by other means fill with water you will find your leak!
there are alot of easy fixes on the market-silicone,JB weld,Alum boat weld (putty-you can but this at wal-mart) I carry a tube of it in my tackle box just in case.... you can silicone all your seams this will ensure you not to have any leaks I did it to mine and it worked great!
The small dents can be pounded out with a ball pin hammer with a block of wood on the underside.
Thats why I like my alum boat its easy to fix!!

Good Luck

If you find the rivet that is leaking you may be able to tighten it by holding a 4 lb. back up on one side while hitting the other side of the rivet wirh a hammer. The best way is flip the boat upside down & to weld them.

put water enough in it to cover the bottom. mark the wet spots....kinda' like a fat girl, huh?...and use JBWeld on the outside of the hull. never have that problem again. be sure to clean the area well before using the epoxy.
