sure. you can easily "pull start" the motor, and at that point you'll have power for the nav. lights, etc.

Yes you can. Red to red, and black to black. Better to have a deep cycle battery for the trolling motor. Running a cranking battery down kills them fast. You can connect the 2 batteries togeather. However it will make the 2 batteries work like just one bigger battery. Make sure the cranking battery (engine) is the one whith the heavy gauge wires from the motor going to it. Better would be to install a battery switch. This will let you disconnect the trolling battery from the cranking battery preventing you from running the pair of batteries down to a level too low to start the motor. They can be connected togeather when motoring to recharge the pair of batteries then, and both battereies can be turned off to prevent any battery drainage when the boat is being stored.

I would suggest a battery strictly for the trolling motor, but you can hook it to the main battery if you have to. Just keep in mind that the main battery will run down and you won't be able to start the engine with it.

You can do anything you want, as long as you are willing to live with the consequences.

It should work, but remember that if you run your battery low you may not be able to start you engine. I would suggest putting in a set of dual batteries with a selector switch. This way you should always have power to start and operate your main engine and navigation lights.

You can hook up a trolling motor in the way you asked but keep in mind that the trolling motor will use a much greater amperage thah the other appl. so it will cause your battery to go dead rather quickly whay you really need is a deep cell marine battery it works great with a trolling motor. i hope this helps

Assuming they both run at 12V it'd work.
But with your main motor off you're not charging.
So you could run your main battery down.
Then you'd be unable to restart your motor.
That's why you need a separate battery.
They can be hooked together by a diode.
Then when the motor is running it'll charge.

Yes. if it is a deep cycle marine battery. Remember if you run your trolling motor too long you may not be able to crank the big motor.
