Would you support nuclear powered passenger/freight ships? In the interest of reducing our dependence on oil and cutting carbon emmisions, would you be in favor of having nuclear powered passenger and freight ships? Nuclear ships have worked well for the military, so it should work pretty well for civilians too, shouldn't it?

My mechanic convinced me to buy a 1991 Mercury 60 HP long shaft ELPTO for my 24ft pontoon that he had in his shop and wanted to rebuild. He found out it was really a 1990 when he tried to get a rebuilt head but no one rebuilds them anymore. I paid him for parts up front, so he didn't want to back out on the deal. Only the bottom cylinder was badly damaged and he did get a piston from Mercury. After 3 weeks of waiting, he got the head ground down and said it looks great. Then he found a hair-line crack in a valve and needed a few other not-available parts which have taken another couple of weeks to find, plus more and more and more excuses. I'm in Minnesota, so the season ended last week. I agreed to buy the motor way back back on Aug 26th with his estimate that it would take about 1-2 weeks. I still have no motor. Today is October 13 and my boat should be in storage by now. How much should I have paid him for this motor and do I have grounds to demand my money back?

I'm thinking of buying a Carolina Skiff 16 boat. I would like to hear from some boaters of what they think of them. My cost will be--and this is out the door $1589.00. Anything you can tell me will be a big help.

Just wonder before I buy, thanks, and if anyone knows how fast this would be compared to a older 10hp outboard that would be great. I'm kind of concerned about it.

Do they puncture very easily ? I wanted to get those that can be stored in a bag and fits in the trunk of a sedan. My dad is not convinced that it is safe think fishing hooks can make it sink. Can anyone recommend me the inflatable that meets my requirements ?

More specifically, I'm curious how many < 50' boats could be docked in / anchored around the harbor area. I realize that this would take a lot of assumptions, so just explain which ones you're making & cite resources where possible.
Good luck :-)

I have been told that air cooled two strokes (chainsaws, weedwhacekrs, some motorcycles, etc) take a different premix oil than water-cooled two strokes (snowmobiles, boat motors) because of the difference in operating temperatures.
However when I look at the labels, they all have the exact same designations, I believe it is TC3.
So what is the story? Are all good quality two stroke oils suitable for different applications?
I've used them interchangeably with no troubles, am I just lucky so far or is there really a difference?
thanx
