submarines and Aircraft carrier are powered for their entire lifespan. If there is such an indispensable source of power, why arent we engineering it for other usefule things such as cars and aircraft and that includes making it safe

My dads friend was a pilot in the air force and he flew the SR-71 and he still has the manual of how to fly it and suprisingly it is only about 15 pages then when my friend took me up in his boss'es little Cessna he showed me the manual and it is over 1,000 pages. Why is that?

I guess while in flight.

The speed and performance do not really matter, just your favorite.

I have several questions about V1. I know what it is but I dont understand this-

Picture a fully laden jet. Taking off from a 7,000ft runway. It uses 5,000ft to get to 5 knots below V1. The the pilot decides to abort. How can he stop in 2,000ft of runway? And V1 doesnt vary much from runway to runway. maybe 5 knots tops. What if the runway was 6000ft??

Me and my friend are arguing. He is saying no and I still think that they do have reverse, even though I am becoming skeptic about my answer because I see those special little trucks push the airplanes backward.

Why do they still take off with when there are ocassions that there is a peice of equipment not working properly? Like in the Brazil crash they only had one working rutter. Which they say is no big deal...obviously it would have helped! I feel you should NOT go up in the air unless EVERYTHING is working properly, don't you?

Sometime back, I read that some rich and famous people buy old Soviet fighters for their own pleasure.

Will it be possible for us to buy old US fighter planes for our own use? Can we buy an old F15 or F16 fighter and fly it for our own reasons? If the US air force or navy refused to sell them, can we get them from other countries? After all, we are buying them to have our own fun.

When I've looked at commercial jetliners that are approaching an airport, they often appear to be just hanging in the air, going only a few miles an hour, if any. How slowly are they actually going? What is the slowest a commercial jetliner can go, and stay aloft?
