There are 3 ways

Join the military - You will have to stay with them for a lengthy period of time before you are released but the training is first class.

If you are very smart as you say apply for one of the major airlines cadetships they give a select few a chance to by-pass the traditional hard slog flying the small planes and train you in the big ones pretty much straight away.

Last option is do what most pilots do. Work part time save some money and fund your flying lessons. Most pilots that learn to fly don't have a lot of money so if you are young there is nothing wrong working as you do your training.

Short of the military, your best bet will be to enroll in a Part 141 school that will guarantee a certificate for a set price. It will not be economical (cheap), but exceptional students can get all kinds of loans or grants to attend just about any kind of school.
Another option is to apply at some airline that supply their own pilots and training, and foot part of the bill for the training.

Military, try the Air force and learn to fly the C-130 air cargo plane. I would love to fly something that big and its free flight training with a 7 year commitment. I doubt you would go into the heart of a war with that plane. Please check out www.beapilot.com. This should tell you the basics of obtaining a license. Good luck

First choice, the military, primarily the Navy or Air Force.

Second choice, go to your local private airport and ask around for some good reputable pilot schools.

Good Luck!

Just as "Drewpie" above said, join the military...the only thing with them there is an age limit and i beleive you sort of sign a contract obliging you to the airforce for a number of years...(So i hear, I've never verified for confirmation)
