I recentley-- well actually more than a year ago-- got a business licence and I haven't done anything with my new business yet because i do not know how to file taxes for my new business. The IRS sent me quarterly employee tax forms or something, but i ignored them because i have no employees, and i have not sold a thing. They stopped sending me these forms, what does this mean?

All help appreciated :]

I want to setup a single-member New Mexico LLC for a website whose revenue is generated through banner advertising (the site would be hosted in NM). The business listing on the NM business website for all LLCs in New Mexico would point to a foreign out of country mailing address.

My main concerns are the "nexus" issues for a California resident.

* Can I do this with out having to pay the California Franchise Board or any tax to California? Even though I don't even have a office in California and all revenue would be generated from New Mexico (due to site being hosted there), I am worried about the "nexus" issues with California and being a resident there. (Ridiculous if you ask me).

* I remember seeing a old post (from 2000) from TaxMama - saying legally you could setup two LLCs in New Mexico (two entities - but the same person) and form a General Partnership in California and not have to pay the insanely high FTB $800 tax, and California Sales Tax. How can I do this?

our restaurant has started inforcing the 100% of tips, but the waitress/waiters are wondering why they even clock in to work, when the paycheck is always 0.00. Does claiming all mean you get it back at end of year. I've been waitressing for along time and have never had to pay in.

Assume that an investor meets the guidelines for material participation in a business. While materially participating in the business, the investor does two things: 1) the investor expends his own funds to complete projects for this for this company, and 2) provides funds to help the company meet its expenses. Subsequently, the business closes. How does the materially participating investor categorize and deduct his losses?

Hello,

I am wanting to get a vechical for my businesss. But I was told by a friend that you can only do a tax write off on a vechical if it is leased? I find that a little strange but wanted to confirm it.

Thanks!

Okay so it's not life and death, but overall I got his with my Bank accounts being frozen on Friday and a letter on its way to my company to garnish wages. I have contacted the IRS and they will be sending a letter to release my wages, however they are not willing to release my bank account money. This is a major issue as I have several checks in the mail, based on what was in my account. Now these checks will bounce and create more problems, which will ultimately leave me with no money to make payment on the back taxes...it's a crappy cycle and I can't seem to get out of it.

Do you have any advice on how to communicate with the IRS in a way that they will show some support and thus release all or the majority of the funds within the bank accounts?

I am a part-time sales consultant and I just wanted to know, when writing off something, for example $10.00 in office supplies, how much $$ does this correlate to me getting back? For example, bottom line, how much am I getting back in cash off of $10.00 in office supplies? And mileage as well? Thanks!

Target calculated sales tax on the items purchased and s&h. Shouldn't sales tax only apply to the puchase amount? Also: when buying a hamburger with a coupon for "buy one, get one free", should the "free" hamburger be sales taxed?
