I lost my W-2 from my former job 4 or 5 years ago. I didn't get to file it. If I get my W-2, can I file it for this year or whenever I get it? And how do I get a copy or of my W-2 from my former job. The thing is I don't remember where I used to work. What should I do?

A company I owned stock in issued shares of stock in a company they held. I was given 23 shares of stock in in that company as a dividend instead of cash. How is this listed for tax purposes?

Had very little earned income (less $1,000.00) in 06. I was on disability all year due to injuries from a car accident. Ex wife came after me for things we agreed to verbally (I know my fault - should had court bless it) but she denied and was not in decree so I had to pay in excess of $30K. (By the way - I am NOT a deadbeat father - I am totally up to date on support etc..pay in excess of $1.2K/m+ for 6 years - and am very diligently - despite my ex's efforts to stay in my children's life's).

Back to? Will I have to pay fed/state tax on $ withdrawn from 401k for this? I had no other source. Believe I can prove hardship and/or the was on disability with basically no earned income for 06. Thanks in advance for feedback.

I can't seem to find the right web site for printing off a copy of my own w2 tax form from Ruby Tuesday. I was an employee of the St. Robert, M.O. restaurant until Jan. 2007. I am now in Germany and the computer is my only outlet for communication. I still have to file my taxes, but I can't do that without my w2 tax form.

I'm disappointed about HR Block. I wasn't told that it'll cost $150 for my $300 tax return until the end of the transaction. Since they did the calculations for me..I had to pay a $25 consultation fee. What a joke.

I work in retail and all the immigrants that come in always want a discount or freak out because the amount on the register is different from the price on the tag. most of them are legal because I can see in their wallets they have medicare or some sort of state ID. some even accuse me of trying to rip them off. I've seen this happen in Target or other chain stores too. Can't the goverement try to educate them once they come to this country.

My roommates are married (the girl is 19 and the guy is 21) and they filed joint on their taxes. Her mother is trying to claim her as a dependent (as she was living with her until August 2006). Her father is threatening to file a lawsuit against him (the guy) for filing illegally (something about their marriage not counting toward their tax filing). Would he have a case or is he just trying to cause more trouble?

Notes: They both let her mother know that they were filing joint TWO weeks prior to her mother filing. They've been married since the end of January 2007.

i have to pay the taxes , registration and insurance up front correct?
what if some of these poor a$$ people can't afford these costs? how does all that paper work work out i mean in a sense winning a prize which is this large can place a person in debt especially if your young and inexperienced.
the reason i ask is i entered my mother in the hgtv dream house giveaway and when i found out all the taxes and insurance out of pocket you have to pay i was thinking to myself hopefully she doesnt win cause if she does she cant afford to have a close to 2 million dollar house. how do all these big-prize things work out in the long run????

I've filed my taxes before but this is the first year I've done it as a college student. I still live at home and my mom can claim me as a dependent. I have 2-3 questions though. The first is about donations. I usually don't do anything with those concerning taxes and I know they changed the rule on that this year. I donate to my church and the church gave me back a statement. It was about $600 dollars. So do I need to use that when I file my taxes and if so how do I do that. Second. I received about 4 scholarships this year for college and I got back around $7000 from unused money which I put in my savings account. My school sent me a 2006 form 1098-T but I've never used this before and I'm not sure how to do my taxes because I thought my scholarships couldn't be taxed. I made a little more than $7000 from my job(part-time) plus the scholarships would add up to $14000. So I wanted to know how to use the tuition statement I got to do my taxes and if I have to include my savings acc too
