I'm disappointed about HR Block. I wasn't told that it'll cost $150 for my $300 tax return until the end of the transaction. Since they did the calculations for me..I had to pay a $25 consultation fee. What a joke.

H&R Block is a rip off, they sell the same software to do your own taxes online as the software they use in their stores, the only difference is that someone else is holding the keyboard and they get to charge you a "$25 consultation fee". They are a joke, either get Turbotax and do it yourself (you can even get it for free by going to www.irs.gov) or use a CPA if your taxes are complicated (i.e real estate, investments, and ect).

. You pay the price, because they are the tax professionals, and not worth it. They don't tell you what you will pay, because, would you have them do it, if they told you the price up front? Lat year we paid almost $200 at H&R Block. This year I did it myself online for $10. The online services are so easy and take as much time as the accountant takes minus the drive.

That is like asking why does it cost $100 to buy a starter and put in in your car and $300 to have a mechanic do it. Its called labor cost. The people at Block aren't volunteers.

H&R Block is in business to make money, like other businesses. They can charge whatever people are willing to pay.
