It was nightmare when I hired this subcontractor, we had argument about $, I did not get his social, I think if I 1099 him, will he fight back again? I don't want to see him anymore.

Should I 1099 him? but I need to protect myself.
Second question, how can I get his social? He did not sign W9, need your help, thank you.

I can probably pay them by the end of January or February, but I just don't have the money by the end of the year. We just bought our house last summer and have not had enough time to build up enough money in our tax account to pay the bill. What will happen if we don't pay it by the end of the year?

I have been presented with an opportunity by my company (based in the US) to move to their Brussels office. I have read on several websites that the income tax is insanely high in Belgium and was wondering if I can do anything to offset it. Are there any tax breaks associated with being an expat? If so, how do I exercise them? If not, how do people normally live when more than 50% of their income goes to the government? I currently live in CT, where cost of living is relatively inexpensive, and I am only taxed 25%.

So i let my friend use my ebay account and now i have to file income taxes because he has made a payoff of over $2100. I also have financial aid that's $11,000 a year. Will this affect my financial aid? I'm really concerned because i was doing my friend a favor and now there might be some trouble. Are we technically partners on ebay or is it an individual selling market? Please I need serious answers.

Hello,

I hope somebody can help me.

I'm going to be living in NYC and working at a public University in NYC.

How does this work? I know they will take NJ taxes as well as NY and then give me back the NY taxes. Is there a way I can just not take the NY money out, and not owe the goverment all this money come tax time?

I really appreciate any help anybody can give me.

What I assume is that I'll be paying:
NYC taxes
Federal taxes
NY State taxes

NJ Taxes????

My husband and I are separated but I do not want to take any legal steps yet. We filed for our taxes as a married couple, together so we don't have to pay that double fee...that was when we were still together. It came to that he owes about $600 in taxes and has not paid any of it yet.He did agree it was money that he owed and would responsibly pay it,but obviously that is not the case.Im wondering..when we file for taxes on the beginnin of 08,this time individually, who are they going to charge for the owed money????He is ruining everything for me.Should I let him file first so they charge him, or how does it exactly work??

I'll be making $100K this year through my business and want to minimize taxes. Is it legal to turn my sole proprietorship into an unincorporated partnership with my brother, so we both make $50K? Can my brother then give me his $50K (less taxes he paid on it of course)?

I'm trying to determine how much a given piece of software is worth (in terms of tax deductions) if it's donated to charity. Searching the web for this only turns up deduction calculating software.

I know that when you win a large sum of money in the lottery you have to pay a large amount of taxes, sometimes it can add up to 40% of your winnings. But after paying these taxes, you put the rest of your money in the bank, do you ever have to pay taxes on the money you put in the bank ever again?

How will our baby's arrival affect our tax status?
You can claim a new dependent on your income tax form. (It's best to get your baby a Social Security number as soon as possible after birth.) What's more, you'll be eligible for a child credit and possibly a childcare credit.

I found that on babycenter.com. What are those?
