In 2004 I filed my return but forgot to file for an annuity payment that I had received, The IRS contacted me an I was told that I would have to start a payment plan and I did that. Then in 2005, I found out that I could amend the return that I forgot to file in 2004 and I did and now they keep saying that I still owe them, I thought that I had at least 3 years to file that return and why do I still owe them? Is it because I agreed to the payment plan? If so I feel like they tricked me into it because at the time I did not know that I had other options
it was not brought to my attention that I could still even file this return the next year, all they kept telling me was i needed the payment plan. I feel like they held back information and I want to do something about it.

1) I got married 4 months ago, i changed my w-4 form to married and only claiming 1 for my spouse federal and 0 for state. They are still taxing me alot around 26%. I thought married people get taxed less? Or do you get more returned.

2) Also on taxes do you get more return the more you make example if i made 20k last year claimin 0 state and federal, would I take home now if i were making 30k this year claiming 0 federal and state?

would send you a violation notice without reviewing the facts surrounding the issue as opposed to this "automated response" to the abuse report?
Do you think that Yahoo! Answers team personel have a responsibility, similar to a judge and jury, to review all pertintent data before passing sentence and fining you (deducting your points)? If you read the way the asker worded this question the way I read it then do you think my response was harrassing to other participants and if so then wouldn't it be fair that as an aswerer I might feel harrassed by the askers lack of basic language skills?

My soon to be ex wife filed her taxes married filing seperately and now I am stuck with the entire bill. I know longer work in the same Industry and am going bankrupt due to the divorce. My income is now reduced to below $30,000.00 and I pay out $700.00 a month for one child. Has anyone had any luck dealing with the IRS? My mother sold me a piece of property in FL last November for $1.00. She bought the property back in the mid 70's for about $7K and at last assessment the property could be sold for about $55K. I want to sell it in November (a year after she "sold" it to me). I am a school teacher in CA. I have no idea how to figure capital gains on something like this and was wondering if anyone could help me, or point me in a direction for help. Anyone have a ballpark figure on what the CG might be?

I need to know what is the percentage of tax due on a cash prize winning from a sweepstakes. I looked on the IRS website and it said that taxes were only due on cash winnings of $5,000 or more. Is this true? Is tax not due on any winnings less than $5,000?

I last lived in a state with income taxes, so I've been filing income taxes there. But it occurred to me that since I live and earn income entirely in another country, why shouldn't I be able to change my state of residence to a state without income taxes?

Thanks in advance.
