I've recently opened a coffee shop in a great location but it's the wrong time of year. I've done leaflet dropping to houses and local businesses, I've advertised in the paper, had a free editorial done in the local rag, but it doesn't seem to be working! Don't get me wrong, we do get customers but if we don't start getting more, we won't last 6months! Money is really tight so i can't really afford to do any more big adverts. Where can I advertise for free? (I don't have a website!) Any other suggestions please?!

I work for a construction contractor. We have files pertaining to jobs we are doing and have done. Some of the jobs we have done were completed 4 years ago, and some 5 years ago. How long should we keep the documents from those jobs?

My boss is worried about possible audits, and likes to keep things for as long as possible.

Not sure how to word this question: basically, I'm trying to figure out how to create a contract between two parties for work. The details and terms of the work are written out in the contract, and both parties sign the document. But what steps need to be taken to make the document legally binding? Is it enough just to have the document notarized, or do there need to be witnesses as well? In other words, how do I make the contract "official".

Thanks.

I and my partner have successfully operated a clothing distribution business supply market traders throughout the UK. And we have decided to purchase an existing clothing manufacturing company to gain more control over production and delivery issues which have in the past caused some difficulty. As we are embarking in a new area of business with much greater levels of uncertainty, and what would you suggest we could do to reduce our levels of personal liability?

Long story short, I work for a new startup small business, that markets new engines and transmissions, well marketed as if we built them. We do not. In fact I've never even seen an actual engine I've sold. Well things aren't working out the best with the bosses. I do not want to quit, that's just not me. My question is no where in my employee handbook does it say anything about company information being private, i triple checked. If something does happen like they fire me, can I be sued for exposing internal company secrets to their competitors? Obviously most intelligent business owners would be the first thing in their handbook, but its no where to be seen.

Does anyone know which company is the best with the best compensation plan? Has anyone ever compared all three companies, the different benefits/incentives, kit, etc...? If you are with one of the named companies, how much do you pay to have a company website? How much is the monthly quota with or without a downline? What about overrides? Do you buy the products at a percentage off? How many parties do you hold in a week? How do you advertise your business? Please provide as much information as possible, I am in MD and I may be interested in joining your downline. Thanks!
