Employers are skeptical about hiring the elderly - those over 55 - because they have concerns about health problems (higher medical insurance costs), productivity and efficiency, and may require more time off than younger employee. Such misconceptions are widespread, even though most of the "senior citizens" have a better work ethic, more business experience and exposure to problems (as well as solutions), will be loyal, (not leave the company at the first opportunity) and in some cases, are in better health than younger co-workers.
