If you inherited a large chunk of money, would you be pratical and invest it or live out a fantasy? I could use the money to remodel my kitchen, or move to France for a year and study art? I have always wanted to live in Paris and paint.

What would you do?

I know someone who just bought Roth IRA with a bank, and got charged a service fee PLUS extra the 5.5% of the principal. So for $5000 they got charged $275. Is that normal, as the customer now barely get anything from the IRA? I really don't know much about those at all so anything explaination would help.

Hi everyone

I went to the bank and spoke to the bank manager and she advised me that she will allow me to withdraw £20.00.. even though I am over the overdraft.

She said that if I get a charge she will refund it.

I need to know how soon does a charge go on your account?

Has anyone gone over their overdraft limit with HSBC?

In 1976 as a secretary I earned $4.85 per hour, 40 hours per week.
In 2006 as a manager I earn $15.44 per hour, 40 hours per week.
Adjusting for inflation, am I really earning anymore money now than I did back in 1976?

My husband and I are both big spenders. We have been trying so hard to get out of debt. We re-financed the house to pay things off...then we just ended up running up the cards again! We have kids and we have a new house. We have so many expenses and so many bills. We also have too many hobbies that we need gear for.

How do we determine what is a must and what can wait? How can we be patient? How can we budget and save? What works? What makes sense? Maybe we are just stretching beyond our means.
