If your not getting back together then divorce 1st.
Next If your Credit is already in the Dumper what is Filling Bankruptcy going to do for you unless you want to just Not Pay some of your bill. If you file you will have to come up with Lawyers fees and filing fees in which you could have used this money to pay some of the bills off. Your credit is bad and will remain that way for some period of years.
I would suggest going to these 2 websites: daveramsey.com and clarkhoward.com. They have lots of information about paying bills with someone in your situation. In the long run after listening to there Shows and answer's to others it for the most part is right on the money. Todays Bankruptcy Law's have changed and you will not be able to walk on so many of the debts especially Credit Cards.
Good luck... Merry Christmas to You...

For financial and credit subject I was search for solutions at this site: LOANHUNTER.NET- RE Can my Ex husband file for bankruptcy after divorce...? He's threatened me with filing bankruptcy for years, even though he had no intention to. It was a way to control me. We're divorcing finally, the big jerk! We've had 1 hearing & a trial is coming up. I am sure the Judge will rule in my favor because he's a louse & I can prove it. (I already have proved it.) BUT he's the type to spite me & wait till after the trial, AFTER the Judge will no doubt rule in my favor, to file bankruptcy. He'll hide all of the assets & property (He's already done a lot of that...) to claim he can't pay anything. My question: CAN he do this? Or will the courts some how make him liable for what ever is ruled on? Can the judge make him NOT file bankruptcy? I don't have a lawyer, he does, she's as big of a shyster as he is, so I know he will have help in screwing me over more then he already has, I just need to know if he legally could file bankruptcy & make sure I don't get a dime from our 20 year miserable marriage.

You can file for bankruptcy and for a divorce on your own. If I were doing it, I would get the divorce first and see how the financial agreements comes out.

File, if he's been gone what difference does it make.
Avoid bankruptcy at all costs...the damage it will do to your credit is rarely worth it.

It is quite literally impossible to properly advise you without more facts. Your best bet is to see a local attorney who can properly advise you after gaining knowledge of the specific facts of your case.

You should consult an attorney. Most have free consultations and can help you assess your situation better.
