I have a loan check made out to me and my mother since she cosigned for me. She does not live in the same place as me so I was told to have her notarize a letter authorizing me to deposit it. I did that, but the bank is still refusing to allow me to deposit it stating she has to be there physically to verify her signature. I cannot open a joint account with her b/c she is on Primary Payment. Has anyone had a similar problem? Is there anyway to deposit/cash this check?

This is my first time opening a checking account. My question is what would happen if my account were to have been overdrawn and remained so for many months, and finally the bank decided to close the account because it was inactive? Does the bank still try and send for their money or does the charges just go away? Will it effect me opening another account with a different financial institution?

Online opportunites are preferred, or otherwise anything that will not cost me anything, take much time, or require much travel. I'd also like to know how I could really get a loan with poor credit, other than payday loans.

When the goverment forced insurance copanies to pay out compensation for miss sold mortgage endowment policies, is it true that the money to pay the excess is taken from bonuses to ordinary endowment savings accounts and that those in these saving accounts are the actual ones who suffer iat the end of the day.

A friend of mine has an unsecured loan, but has unfortunatly lost his job. As soon as he was made redundant he contacted the bank, and explained the situation, offering a reduced payment until he found another job. They turned down the offer, and have now threatend to force him into selling his house to recover the debt. In my own mind i can't see that they can do this, as the loan was unsecured (or personal), and has no calim to his property. He does have a mortgage, and has kept up payments to them (either in full or over a couple of months 1/2 payments) as they are the priority, and they are happy with the situation. Surely the mortgage company are the only ones who can force my friend to sell the house, or reclaim the house to cover the debt. Any advice on what the loan company can do as far as his house is concerned would be appreciated.

For many people (not all, I know.) it is a goal to be wealthy. So why are so many people hateful and spiteful towards people that have actually worked towards and accomplished this? So they gloat a little, or buy nice things... don't they have a right to be proud of their accomplishments? Why are people so volatile towards the wealthy?

I work with someone who is also one of my very good friends. She has 2 children, one of which has a condition that causes a lot of medical expenses. She broke down crying today because they are threatening to take her house, and her car is going to be repossessed probably this week. She had to pay a large amount of medical bills off, and it has left her with no funds.
Our company is having a fundraiser in October, where we plan to raise an extremely large amount of money. That, however, does not help her now.
I have considered taking out a personal loan for about 4 thousand dollars to keep her and her family afloat until then. She can not take out a loan, for her credit is ruined.
I am 100% confident that she will pay me back next month when the money comes in-probably before my first payment is due. I feel like I need to do something. She is in a really bad spot, and I would pray that someone would do that for me.
Is it a bad idea?

I'm interested in finding out from people who have had an IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) to reduce their debts.

How did it help you?
Has it affected your credit worthiness?
Is it a simple system?
Do you have to pay for someone to arrange it or can you do it yourself?
What are the downsides?

If you have had one and come out of the five year term then how have you found getting back into a good credit position and are their any long term effects?

Thanks for your time

I was approved for a loan through country wide on line, at the end the guy asked for my credit card number 380$ for credit report, and appraisal fees. Is this common or is it a scam?
