For many people (not all, I know.) it is a goal to be wealthy. So why are so many people hateful and spiteful towards people that have actually worked towards and accomplished this? So they gloat a little, or buy nice things... don't they have a right to be proud of their accomplishments? Why are people so volatile towards the wealthy?

Sorry if that was vague. I do mean spending that money on yourself, instead of giving it away. Buying nice clothes, cars, designer stuff, gourmet food, going to a spa, etc. Why do so many people seem to resent someone in designer clothes. Why do they get so verbal about how you choose to spend it? Would they give all their money to the poor after working so hard to earn it? No, but they expect us to.

A good majority of those people are simply jealous. They'll call you a "rich *****", or a snob and pretend that you're superficial and that "they" are nothing like you, because they're not "shallow" like that...

When in reality, they want it more than anything. They just can't pretend to be rich, because they can't afford to even pretend. Of course they want the brands and the luxuries, thats why so many designer knock offs exist...along with the term "Chav".

I myself have seen the hatefulness. Yet so many people who wear these designer clothes DO NOT have the money to pay for them. They depend upon credit cards and dig a deep hole to impress others. They appear rich yet have nothing except these "things" they spent all their money on. Which is fine, but I rather have more money than stuff around the house. Stuff doesnt make me more money,,, my money makes me more money which then brings joy joy !! The more money I have, the more I can do for others !

I feel "why not be wealthy" its out there, every opportunity to make money, just some people can't and won't grasp the ideas of how to make it or keep it; when really keeping the money is the KEY !!! When younger, I put money away while others were out partying...now my money makes money and I dont have to work hard at all.

Jealousy is the largest factor in this spiteful treatment. It is a killer of friendships. People say money is the root of all evil, well I believe LACK of it is !!! If you dont have enough money then STOP SPENDING IT ALL !! it is really that simple ! Unless you hit the lottery, you will not be rich over night... and even when poor people win the lottery MOST end up back there within a year for they have no clue on how to handle it which is why they were poor in the first place.

Those I have known who have said "money isn't important" sure change their tune when the bills come in and then they curse the rich, its almost humorous but these people cannot see that they need to make a change rather than simply complain and hate those who do do well.

Live well .... stay out of debt and the living gets even better !! : )

Being rich is NOT bad. Financial independence is the first step towards every other goal in life. However, you can not focus only on money. Focus on what you need currently and start seeing life as a whole. Dont aim at the money you would require when you are 60, and spend all your waking hours working towards it, ignoring yourself, your family, and friends. If you do it, its not others who will hate you. It will be YOU who will start hating yourself....

I think a lot has to do with the public school system. They indirectly teach socialism. We were taugh to idolize the concept of Robin Hood. They should teach the truth that a majority of wealthy people have either worked really hard, taken a risk, or had ideas that no one else has thought of.

Being rich is not bad. Have you ever driven through rich sections of your city and wonder "what do these people do for a living in order to afford these estates ?" Well, chances are they have a good education. They are professionals, i.e. doctors, lawyers, CEO's of medium to large companies. The opportunity is out there for us all, but some never try to achieve wealth for one reason or another.

There are a lot of generalizations here. Who thinks that being wealthy is bad? Perhaps you are referring to wealthy people who use their funds for selfish and possibly damaging purposes?

People think highly of themselves, sometimes without merit. It's these people who denigrate people who are more successful than they are.

Also, since there are always more people who haven't succeeded than have succeeded, some politicians play to them to get elected.

It's not bad to be rich! As for the "other ppl" you mention, I'd say it's simply jealousy.
