Are there other examples of common sense finding the best, cheapest, quickest, most obvious solution to a technical or general need?

Women in Florida were arrested for hosting fake Louis Vouitton parties...selling knock-offs (prices as well as the fact that these were replicas were disclosed). However, I've just seen at least a dozen web sites advertising and boasting the fact that they have "replicas". Is this legal? Why the distinction? Why do people on Canal Street in NYC have to hide the merchandise? ALSO, prices on the street are much cheaper than on-line ($30 vs. $199)! I don't understand!
