Ok I wanna go get a career in computers as either a technical support specialist or a computer systems administrator. I was thinking about going to a four year college, but going to a technical school caught my mind (*mainly since i won't have to deal w. the english, math, ect. for college).

My questions are as following:

* What do companies prefer more, an employee that went to a four year college or one that went to a technical school?
* Which job is better if I wanna be able to do clean out computers of viruses and other malware, install software, and put in/replace hardware, ect? From what I looked up it looked like a technical support specialist and computer systems administrator each covered at least a fair deal of these....but please correct me if i'm wrong.

The more detail in the answer the better pplz. Thanks in advance!

I graduated with a bachelor's in computer science.
I am from Mexico but have lived in the US for about 14 yrs. I understand everything in English and I speak English perfectly, the only thing is that I have an accent.

I have been having trouble finding jobs in my career area. Most don't even call me for an interview. So I have lowered my job expectations and now have been applying for technical support, call center jobs. But they have told me that my English is not very good.

I can't understand that. I went through college, have a lot of English speaking friends, not once have they told they didn't understand something I said.

I said, well maybe that's the same for everyone. Yet I hear other people from other countries who speak English much much worse than me, yet they have this high paying jobs, same experience, and even less qualifications than me.

So I reached a conclusion, either I'm being discriminated against... or those people I have heard of are lying and they

I would love to be an automotive mechanic but I will be a college graduate next year. Do you think I am selling myself short and not reaching my full potential? I want to do what I love, but I wonder if I can do more than that.

I know of a job that will be posted in the next month in another department of the company for which I work. I know the guy who is vacating the position. I also know of a guy who would be a well qualified applicant for the position but is not intrested for non work related reasons. I want to ask them the right questions so that I can tailor my resume and prep for a potential interview. I see these 2 guys as huge assets because they will give me honest answers and information about what is truely required for the job...information that might not be available in the "corporate" job posting/description. What questions should I ask? I want to tailor the answers to be better prepared for a potential interview, as well as make my resume more attractive.
The job is an IT support position...basic hardware break/fix with some minor networking and IT setup for presentaions. From what I see he is the IT go-to guy when something computer related malfunctions or is in need of an upgrade.

I had a telephonic interview [through a referal] with a person from overseas for about half an hour., It went well. I didnt hear from them for about 9 days, so I called up the company's HR here, the guy said he had sent me a mail asking for additional details. As I hadnt received it, I said so, and he offered to forward it to me again., But its been two days now and there hasnt been a word or mail since then., Should I email him again? I am clueless as to whether I made it through and why the silence/delay in process.
Please help!! its a very good role with good opportunities and involves a lot of responsibilities, and I really look forward to it.,

So... I am a software developer for a company. I'm 18 and I know I'm young, but I am expected to understand and program in C#, VB, stored procedures, HTML, Javascript, CSS, ASP.NET 1.1 and 2.0. I have gone through community college and know how to do everything I'm asked to do, including some certifications. But I believe I'm being taken advantage of (meaning under-paid) because of my age. I talked to a new employee who recently left for a better job. He's a great guy and a good friend of mine, but he doesn't know C# very well. I recently found out that after 6 months of working there, I discovered that the new people are getting paid twice as much as I am. I worked full time all summer and now I'm working part time until next summer. What should I do? Ask for a raise? Wait things out? I don't know...

hey guys , i have an interview tommorow for a position as an "Embedded Software Engineer". I am a little bit nervous . What kind of questions do you think they can ask me relating to the position ? I have some projects in my resume . Is the interviewer going to ask me any questions relating to that ? I don't have any experience and the job is for someone with experience . I got the interview because i was persistent. Now i have to show the employer i have the nature to hard work and learn quickly . How can i over the fact that " i have no experience in the field " . I have other experiences like

Call center ( e-zpass new york ) and
Cust service ( Comp usa )

i didn't work for long in these places 6 months each . i got fired from e-z pass due to poor absenses ( i was going through a ToUgH time , if u can understand ) .
I want the job really bad because , I can't stay home any longer due to family problems. What do you think i should know before hand facing the employer ?
