If you are applying for jobs and interviewing for different jobs...they always ask: "Can we contact your current" employer? Is it safe to let them do this? Are they contacting them for employment verification or other stuff?

I'm sure that the consumer understands that the jewelry store must make a profit in order to stay in business, but the consumer always tries to barter the price he pays to below what he believes is it's wholesale cost.

My yearly insurance policy statement states that I took out a premium loan. I have no knowledge of either asking for the loan, or recieving the money. I asked for an explanation and wasn't given one. I asked for a list of transactions for the last few years and they sent me information going back only 2 years. The 'loan' was taken out earlier than this, so I still have no explanation. I'm on a disability pension and can't afford to pay the loan off. What are my rights? Do you have an explanation?

I am 16 years old and I have recently started thinking about getting a job somewhere. I think that it's time to take on some more responsibility in my life and kind of widen the gap between myself and my parents because it's going to happen anyways. Plus, I need some money. ^_^

So, where do you think I should work? (I live in a small, semi-rural town in Ohio.)

My cousin-in-law is new to the UK and has been here for about 5 days. She is looking for a permanant place to live and needs to get a bank account. How can she go about doing this and what is the best bank to use? She has a passport and a valid visa, but it appears that there are lots of barriers out there to prevent her from applying. We only need a cash card that she can pay her salary into for the moment.

I've had several jobs in the past few months, some were direct hire while others were temporary, and I've noticed that I really don't get treated in a respectful and appreciative way. These jobs are all corporate office environment positions. I've been pressured to resign and I've had temporary assignments ended prematurely. I am a mature person with a master’s degree and I always have a positive attitude at work. I treat people with respect and I am always willing to help. I am not a confrontational person and after a little while at working at a job I always seem to rub at least one or two people the wrong way, especially my bosses. Am I being too passive? Should I be more confrontational in order to get some more respect or is it a question of finding the right place for me to work?

The panel is comprised of my entire QA department as well as Managers and Directors of our telephone customer service department. We monitor their representatives for quality assurance. Our goal is to have a frank but fun discussion about QA, our relationship together, best practices and any challenges we face. I already have quite a few questions but could use some suggestions. Thank you all!
