Do you think in most countries, the goverment bans pyramid/ponzi schemes because there's no way they can tax you or get some of the goods themselves?

I need ideas to publicize my website. I'm not selling anything so advertising on Google and Yahoo isn't really a top choice (I'm already doing it, though.) It's just a small simple blog-like site I make to talk about celeb gossip, weird news, picture galleries, etc. Here are some of the things I'm already doing:

- meta tags
- site submit (to a bunch of other engines)
- linked on myspace, xanga, blogs, even on here (lol!)

I'm running out of ideas! :(

The site is: www.niquehappy.com. Thanks in advance.

We bought a home in March and just received a sales verification form from the Assessor's Office asking us to verify the info. The papers say our house is a 1 1/2 story with 1,054 sq. feet, built in 1928, cape cod style. Our house is actually 2 stories, we were told it was 1,400 sq. feet, told it was built in 1929 and its a tudor revival. I don't want our taxes to go up, but don't want to mess things up with our property value when we decide to sell in the future. i'm a first-time homeowner, so I'm not what all of these things mean.

Who is most likely correct with this info assessors or sellers/agent? I'm starting to feel like we got screwed by the sellers in some way.

You keep seeing these firms on the TV advertinsing their policies and saying that if you apply online for a quote you can get a discount. Well great but aftrer you fill out all the forms it come up with some crappy excuse and give yopu a premium rate number to ring to find out the cost. Why cant they do ask they say and give the quote online.

My cousin is trying to rent an apartment in Detroit but many of the landlords want to check his credit history. He has a history of slow pays and other credit card troubles. What should he do? How much of an explanation should he try to give? Do you think a person's credit history should matter when it comes to renting, anyway???

I'm concerned my current employer would try to make me leave and/or let me go, if they find out I'm looking at other opportunities. If I do indeed leave, I will of course give proper notice, but I'd appreciate advice on giving permission to talk with my current company. Thanks.

My girlfriend hasn't paid the taxes on her vehicle for a year. We know they are due somewhere. Here is where it gets tricky. She is divorced. The vehicle is in her ex-husband's name. In the divorce agreement, he bought her the vehicle and agreed to make payments until it was paid off and cover insurace, she has to pay for taxes and maintanence. They both lived in the same county (in North Carolina) for about a year and a half. Then me and her moved to another county. He moved to another county as well. When he got the tax bill, he waited about 6 months to pass it along. That bill was from the first county, but we have all been living in different counties between the time he got the bill and we got it. Now the taxes are due again somewhere, but it may be 6 more months before we get a bill. Does she pay then in this county because she lives here? Or in his county because its in his name? And should the first tax bill still be due in the old county in in the new one?
