I'm not willing to go super-short because I have to be able to put my hair up for work. My hair starts curling just above my ears and naturally has loose curls, but it is very thick and has enough body that straightening it is a waste of time and energy. Right now I have layers; the shortest has grown out to be shoulder length, the longest is midway down my back. Any ideas, ladies?

I have copper/red/auburn hair and I'm thinking about going strawberry blond. Any suggestions which kit to use if I do it myself? or is this something better left to a pro?
