Bulling academics have replaced metaphor, beauty, poetry and skill with dense and sterile, pompously intellectual, boring, self-righteous $#@*. Their aim is to have all art be a kind obvious and immediately gratifying social engineering of sorts, a soulless, guilt ridden everything counts stew of obviousness and proclamations.

How many people here have taken an art appreciation course (you know, the ones where you study impressionism, pointilism, dadaism etc. And of course classical greek, renaissance etc.)? And do you think most people should learn about it? And why or why not?

I have a painting thats named "The Five Senses". It depicts five kittens, each of them employing one of the senses. Example...one of the kittens is looking in a mirror for sight; one smelling a rose for smell, etc. This was passed down to me from my mother who wrote on the back of it that it was my great, great, great, grandmother's. Awhile back I found a print of the same at Wal-Mart, but unfortunately it didn't have any information on it about its orgin or artist. Any input or suggestions will be helpful. I'm not interested in selling it, I just would like to know about how old it is and all. Thank you.

I have the random urge to try and paint. The problem is I know nothing about paints. I plan to do a classical type of painting. Any suggestions about the type of paint I should get? The brand? Quantity? Where to get it? Thanks.

Have you posed nude for someone to paint your picture? My boyfriend is offering to do this for me, but he can barely even draw cartoons.
