I have a painting thats named "The Five Senses". It depicts five kittens, each of them employing one of the senses. Example...one of the kittens is looking in a mirror for sight; one smelling a rose for smell, etc. This was passed down to me from my mother who wrote on the back of it that it was my great, great, great, grandmother's. Awhile back I found a print of the same at Wal-Mart, but unfortunately it didn't have any information on it about its orgin or artist. Any input or suggestions will be helpful. I'm not interested in selling it, I just would like to know about how old it is and all. Thank you.

A turn of the century "lithograph" in good condition probably worth only about $250 (I could be wrong) Call an art teacher at a local college for authoritative advice.

Almost sounds like it might be from the Romantic period (early to mid-18th century). Without seeing the painting, I couldn't tell you for sure, but some traits of the Romantic period is dramatics of light and dark shading, high emotional content, and fanciful subject. You might think about searching a university art-data base, or even humanities school book. For that matter, do a google.com search using the title.
Any who, sounds like a neat painting. Good luck in your search:)
