First of all, if you're going to, make sure you have someone there who can help you if you have a bad trip.
Second, be prepared to stay tripping for at least 10 hours. There is NO going back.
Third, you will have flashbacks when you least want or expect them.
Also, if you're trying to emulate Hunter Thompson, I suggest you don't. He was a bi-polar depressive with serious problems and the last person who should be a role model.
Why do you want to do acid? Probably the most important answer to your question is a question.

Back in the day, acid was almost always stored in the freezer, so if you have found some in the basement, think of it as a bunch of once frozen hamburgers. Would you eat uncooked hamburgers that you found in a basement? Lots of times, when people have had 'bad trips' it is because they had some acid that hadn't been stored properly, and you do not want a bad trip because it is not only painful, but frightening and can last for more than 12 hours. Not fun!

While acid will not kill you it can put you in some very bad mental states or even acute psychosis. You really should do some research into what you put into your body. I would recommend the books: LSD my problem child and Storming Heaven

Do not take it. If you are not sure exactly the substance, its age or consistency, leave it alone. It could hurt or kill you. I would suggest destroying it. Flush it down the toilet.
