i always hate the built-in flash on my camera. i can adjust the brightness in Manual mode, but i can't always bother, especially if i am on an outing.

in auto mode the flash is really strong and mostly people turn out too white, which is very annoying and inconvenient.

so, can any experienced people tell me what my options are for an external flash unit? i am very confused amid the "slave flash", "bounce flash", "ring flash", "twin flash" and whatever other flashes may be roaming the earth, so i have no idea what i should be looking for.

i would like the flash force to be adjustable, so in the evening or in dark places people can look sort of daylightish? at least not ghostly! also, since i'm a teenager with a photo hobby, i cannot splurge and get an expensive one, so something much less than top of the line will have to do. i can probably only afford something for maximum 70 bucks.

on amazon there are a few cheap options but i don't know what kind of flash they produce.

I like the paintings on the covers of these CDs but no where on the CD does it name the artist or the painting. Here are links to pictures:

Hi everyone,

I've decided to join the Youtube community.
Not having any experience with video editing nor a recording camera, I've introduced myself with a slideshow of my works and music.
It's really rudimentary, but your opinion is always important to me. Thanks !

I'm curious how I can take a low-res image with jagged, digital lines and using Photoshop make the edge lines smooth, sharp and without the zig-zag effect. I've taken a screenshot from Google sketchup, and what I'd like to do is use screenshots from this program, bring these into Photoshop, increase the resolution, change this to pure black and white, and somehow sharpen the zig-zag line quality. Here's the original image.

http://www.geocities.com/robsartgallery/house.jpg

Any suggestions on how to use Photoshop to make the lines sharp and without zig-zag quality?

I've been experimenting and I have some ideas, but I'd like to hear any other suggestions people might have.

Thanks!

I have looked into colored pencils and markers, which are both great for staying in the lines, but they don't lay down large swaths of smooth color. Pastels are better, but can be very difficult to keep within the lines.

I have been leaning towards some sort of paint. Paints are dependent on brushes, so large areas and fine detail can both be taken care of. But, what types of paints?

Thank you in advance!

What are the pros and cons (quality, quality of work, expense, etc. ) of having a Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph Technical Pen Set?

I know they are more expensive than disposable pens (like Microns). They were discovered at my work when we were cleaning. I am currently trying to figure out how to use them. Some of my co-workers don't know how to use them and just want to chuck them in liu of the Micron disposable pens.

Ultimately, I need to know if it is more feasible to use disposable pens or these refillable technical pens. We will be using them for fine pen and ink techniques.

Also, if you have any examples of work done with these kind of pens, I would appreciate it if you could show me.

I have a Nikon D50, 28-80 lens, SB-600 flash and a Sony Handicam. I plan on purchasing a wide angle lens before the trip. I may only take my wide angle lens and leave the 28-80 at home. I like the backpack bags, but I will also have a regular backpack. (We are hiking all the way down and camping out). What things should I consider when shopping for a camera bag?

Also should I purchase a Quantaray, Tamron, Sigma or Nikon wide angle lens? I'm not sure if I'll have the money to buy the name brands. What's the quality difference in the Quantaray?

I got a new digital camera for Christmas, and I'm already having a problem with it.... I took the pictures that I liked and saved them into my favorites. Then, I deleted them all (the favorites were saved in the favorite file thingy) When I take out the memory card for the camera and try to transfer the pictures to my computer, the favorites aren't there. How can I get my favorites to save onto the memory card so that I can put them on my computer?

how can the admissions officer tell if a drawing was not actually drawn by you? and is just photo copied?

i just finished a nice drawing using only a straight edge (theres no indication from the college that i cant use a straight edge) and im afraid they might think its just photo copied... because the lines are perfectly straight...

so is there a way i can show its not plagerized?

Okay so I am finally starting my photography thing.. I have been going around in circles for about a month now and finally I have my camera... well two.. I have learned from some experts that starting with film is best so I am going that route first. I want to learn everything before I spend a girp on Digital. Okay so, I have my camera (Canon Rebel II).. I ended up getting two because the first one I bought (both used) the lens did not work, so instead of buying a $200 lens for a beginner I found a different camera (Canon EOS Rebel Gii). So now I have two working cameras. Anyway here is my question (sorry for rambling) What are some things that I can practice shooting before I get into my class. I am thinking it will be at least another month before my schedule opens up, but I don't want to wat that long to start... Please serious answers from the real photographers, or other ametuers. Thanks!

I am thinking about attending there are two days of instruction, but it is pretty pricey around $150 each day. The first day is to teach basics on the digital slr camera and the second is about software programs to enhance your photos etc. Has anyone taken these courses, are they worth the price? I am not a complete beginner, just need some additional instruction, would these benefit me?
