I just started drawing at the end of July I think. I'm really interested in anime and manga. I've tried to practice drawing, but I get really discouraged when I can't do something right or I can't find a way to teach me how to draw the things I want to draw. For example, I've been trying to find a way to draw hands better, but every book I look at has a very minimal section for hands...and they're already finished and look good. I also want to take an anatomy class, but I don't think any of the (very rural) schools out here give an anatomy class.
Another of my problems is that I have one really awesome drawing and I want to ink it and finish it completely, but I don't want to mess up the hair and make it look different. It looks awesome in pencil, but it's smearing all over the place. Does anyone have any advice for either of my questions?
I've tried to start drawing again, but I think I intimidate myself...HELP! I want to get out of this drawingless slum...but how?

It seems to me that art, just like music and movies should sink or swim on their own merit. Can someone familiar with this subject let me know why tax dollars are being funneled to artists?

My girlfriend is an avid art tablet user, but she draws in a position in which her computer chair doesn't support her back.

She reports back problems and frequently has to take breaks from working to rest her back, even while she's drawing sitting straight up.

Her normal position is when she has the chair tilted back, sitting in a semi-lotus position while either hunched or sitting straight up.

Does anyone recommend a specific kind of chair that has an adjustable backrest to it that might help her?

I am trying to create a framed Art piece that has a beach sand background with seashells, sealife, etc. glued onto the sand. However, I am having trouble knowing how I should glue the sand on and what the best material to use. Also, how will the heavy shells will stick to the sand. What kind of glue is best for sticking shells onto real sand and what is the best material to use for sticking purposes i.e. a canvas or an actual picture frame with construction paper? HELP!

Yeah, I don't know how to word that well. I'm bored, I want to do something with these plain jeans I've got that I never wear. I was thinking I'd draw a big face on the leg. What I've got picture is one of those old looking sketches of like, a young girl from the 20's or around then. I hope you know what I mean :? I'm not that good of an artist but if I could find a nice picture I like I'd like to use it to copy onto the jeans. Do you know of any nice pictures like this? Just a simple face, nnot too busy. I hope you can understand what I'm looking for, I'm not great with words hehe
Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

What is the best waterproof pen for drawing on bags. I'm going to use acrylic paint to paint a bag then use waterproof pen to decorate. What waterproof pen is the best -
Which:
Don't smudge whilst drawing,
Whilest drawing it doesn't run into like veins across the paint,
Can stand up to rain and everday use.
What is the best waterproof pen???

Does anyone know where I can post graphic novels for free. I don't really have one yet, it's still in its infancy. But I'm looking for a site where you can post your graphic novel and let others see it. I'm not thinking of selling it.

If there's no none you can think of, Is there a free web hosting providers that I could use so I could post it there instead?

When I draw pictures I tend to make them very tiny, because I get bored coloring and my mistakes are more glaring when I make my pictures bigger. I also still haven't gotten over my childhood phobia of running out of paper. The problem is in art class I always end up with insanely detailed textures (mapped mathematicaly often using a grid) in some areas, and large chunks of empty space which I hastly fill in with quick hills, grass, sky, or anything so that my art teacher won't complain too much. Problem is, that undeveloped space looks ugly. So does anyone else who have the same problem; and/or a solution?

I'm trying to find a picture to draw and it needs to be so I can put magazine pictures that I will cut out so I can make it look surreal. I need a picture before Tuesday. Cars, houses, inside of houses, etc. would be great! (I found a few, I just need to show them to my teacher and see if he approves)
