Frequent practice at shaping the letters correctly should be of help. Perhaps I was not diligent at this, because my handwriting is fairly bad.

My handwriting was always terrible, and barely legible. So I started writing in all caps. Every year growing up, as I entered a new grade, the teachers asked me to go back. They saw my lower case, and quickly told me to write "how I felt comfortable." Meaning, "please write in all caps."
Even in Spanish classes where it matters (because of accents, you don't put them over CAP letters if you write in all CAPS), they said I didn't have to.
Consider it, you may have good handwriting when you go this method.
