Why in the world would you want to do it anyway.

What seems fun now may be an embarrassment later. Put it on temporarily first and wear it for a while.
One day when you are 30 and want to go to the beach for a romantic evening with your sweet-heart your name across your back will look pretty stupid. Besides if you were robbing a store with your shirt off you just advertised who the robber was. But then again if you get shot in a drive-by the coroner will know who the body is.

Then you can pay a small fortune to get it burned off and have some great scars to wear until you are 70 or so.

And I've answered too many of these and am getting slap-happy.

Depends on a few things; the width of your back, and the size/type of font that you use. I have a good friend who has his last name tattooed on his back but no on can read it, it's only 5 letters but because he used a strange looking font so I don't think it matters if your last name is 5 or 10 letters long, choose a distinguishable size and font and you should be ok.

Yes, you can have your name tattooed on your upper back.

However, you are a very lucky person. The guidelines adopted by the American Tattoo Association state very clearly that the limit on your upper back is 10 letters.

the small of the back stretches and contracts in size more than most other body parts, so why people choose to tattoo there and then later complain about their disfigured skull dragon is beyond me. secondly, if you can't remember your own name, you won't be able to read it off of you back anyhow. maybe get some wall mirrors and have it tattood backwards? seriously though, how much can your own last name really speak about you tattood on your back, other than that you make poor life decisions?

The size of the letters can be adjusted to fit the size of your back.

Sorry, but nine is the legal limit.

You are out of luck, unless you change your name.

I knew a guy, who had his girlfriend's name, "Wendy" tattooed on his male member. Of course, when it was "at rest," all that showed was the letters, "Wy." While standing at a urinal, one day, he happend to glance over at the next stall and noticed a man with "Wy" tattooed on HIS member. The guy asked the stranger, "I couldn't help but notice the tattoo. Is your girlfriend also named Wendy?"

No, sir, the stranger answered. "My tattoo says, 'Welcome to Barbados. Have a nice day!"

if you wanted a really little thing then it might be too long, but you said you wanted a big one so it's not bad.
