I happen to like abstract art because I can use my own imagination in interpreting the piece.

I must admit, maybe my research on programs has not forwarded me the right program for me that gives me the options and quality that I find I get with my own processing/darkroom work. So please give me your opinions of which programs you find to be the most successful in creating photos that give you the quality of an exceptional photograph that you are proud of and know shows your artistic side of being a photographer. And to the gentleman who opened my eyes to the possibility of using a digital camera and having the ability to create an artistic product that I would be proud to show, thank you! I only have 10 yrs more experience then you, however, I started with a manual Nikon, and found that my ability to create my artistic photographs was most satisfying. I am with the times and have been working with digital for sometime now and I agree with you on your statement regarding being a professional. It is not the camera or equipment you use, it is the individual. I to have awards

I have been painting for 2 years using mixed medium, mainly landscapes and seascapes. I will be attending college in September to gain a certificate OCN 1 as I feel this may open up opportunites to display my work. Do you think it will help? Also do you know of any good sites where others can view my paintings?

I know a guy who does these really wild paintings, and they are composed well (to my eyes), but unlike famous abstract artists like Picasso, this guy can not ALSO draw or paint reality or illistrate at ALL, but he seems to have this amazing abilty to swirl patterns, drawing images out of what to me seems like cloud gazing. Is it possible to be respected as a painter/artist when you can't draw? It sort of seems like his imagery is "found" from random shapes. The whole thing about fine art versus illustration gets to me to. Sometimes I see what is supposed to be a piece of fine art, that is nothing more than an illustration on canvas, but you don't see cartoonists passing off every frame of their artwork as a piece of fine art, if they COULD do that, they would cut every frame out and trace it on a canvas.. Who says what is fine art? I think it's all BS sometimes, because the composition is judged subjectively.

I don't see anything fascinating or attractive about Tattoos. They are painful, they can do damage to your body and they cannot be removed without a lot of aggravation. Why would you want to do this to your body. The body is already beautiful in it's many forms. I am an artist and I know this as art but I think there is a place for art and a place not for art. Would you hang a Van Gogh on a tree out on the mountainside. No because it would not get proper recognition because it's beauty would be outflanked by the beauty of the countryside. So why would you want to put art on something that is already beautiful? I just do not see anything attractive about Tattoos on your body. The artwork is fantastic but put it somewhere it can be appreciated. Is this a fad like wearing 22 pierced earrings at the same time? Just thought some insite might change my way of thinking.

I saw a red circle on a white background and someone told me that was art. It might be art but it is not good art. If one is going to place a piece of art in public it should be good art. I am told it is really hard to paint a really red circle. Ok so its hard, but it is definitely not creative!
