I don't see anything fascinating or attractive about Tattoos. They are painful, they can do damage to your body and they cannot be removed without a lot of aggravation. Why would you want to do this to your body. The body is already beautiful in it's many forms. I am an artist and I know this as art but I think there is a place for art and a place not for art. Would you hang a Van Gogh on a tree out on the mountainside. No because it would not get proper recognition because it's beauty would be outflanked by the beauty of the countryside. So why would you want to put art on something that is already beautiful? I just do not see anything attractive about Tattoos on your body. The artwork is fantastic but put it somewhere it can be appreciated. Is this a fad like wearing 22 pierced earrings at the same time? Just thought some insite might change my way of thinking.

I got my first tat out of anger in an attempt to show anyone who would notice, my view of religion. The rest of them have different meanings but all mean just as much. People get tatoos for millions of reasons ,mostly they mark an occasion an emotion or a period of life. As far as fads go this must be the longest running fad known to man. As for the pain most who have one tatoo have several.......must be something to it.

I have Phil Ochs tattooed on my arm (folk singer) I also have "Never Die" and a rose tattooed across my toes, with a tigerbat above the toes on my left foot for Tiger Army. I see me getting a couple more musician tattoos. I have an Ochs lyric tattoed across the back of my neck (Sacred are the scars) and an Op Ivy lyric across the insides of both arms (It's beautiful I would say... I wouldn't have it any other way.) I'm thinking about a hot-rod culture tat, skulls and roses and a banner, gotta pick the lyric to go in the banner though. As it stands today, I'd probably choose "In death as in life, I will arise" or "My conscience carries the weight of blood."

People get tattoos for many different reasons. Some get them to honor someone they have lost, some get them to remember something special that happened in their life, some get them because everyone else got one, and some people get them to bond with a group. My husband was in Iraq and he is going to get one to symbolize his time there.

Its a personal choice. Some people get tattoos because their is meaning behind it. Some people just think it looks pretty. Lots of people think they enhance a persons natural beauty.

People often fel the need to decorate their body as a way to keep track of events or state their preference for one activity or another. It's a way of declaring yourself without saying a word.

first of all its a choice...not everyone likes them and that is fine....if you plan on getting a tattoo removed you probably never should of gotten it in the first place...it is an art to many people...i love looking at a nice looking tattoo...they can not do damage to your body unless you go to a filthy place that doesn't use clean needles...if you are going to get a tat, do your research on the tattoo palor...

It's a form of self expression. It's body decoration. It's style.

Why do people get their ears pierced. For the same reason we get tattoos.

There's nothing else to do in prison, other than to permanently mark one's body so they can be easily identified by the authorities the next time they are arrested.
