I would think that realistic art would be more blasphemous than abstract art, since it actually looks like what it is representing and is therefore more like an idol.
plus abstract art, to me, represents emotions more than actual objects.

Abstract art is about expressing the painter's emotions through visual elements in a non representational form, there is no direct message. Having no message it cannot have a moral value. Having no moral value means it cannot be right or wrong. So it should be safe for Christians and members of any other religion.

Well, as you say, it's open to interpretation...So then it would depend on the person looking at the piece.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and so is the lack of it.
The fact is that people will judge and censor...and thus take away your right to decide what is right or wrong. No one should be given such power... especially not the church.
Of all the Creator's children, we have the freedom of choice. If God doesn't take it away from you, why let a man?

This is something I never thought would come up for Christians.
Art is..art. I mean, it's not something that really makes me mad or anything because it's someone's own work and imagination. I don't really see why Christians would get angry about it. I can't think of any time that's been an issue with people, Christian or not.

Now, if God needs to practise guide a procedure like evolution it is an completely different tale. God is smart and would make issues come jointly. Why on earth would it be? Art is all in the interpretation. If it depicts moral depravity or anything blasphemous, then take caution. Otherwise, it's fine.

What is more abstract than the idea of life after death, infinity, or heaven? I think that Jesus would want you to use your brain.
