You personally don't KNOW whether what you see is a bot simulation world or not. You don't KNOW whether you're on an alien TV show or not. And you don't know if this is actually one big episode of Punk'd.

These examples are a stretch of the imagination, sure, but it's true, ain't it?

How do YOU ingest the world news you see on TV? Do you bear with all the possibilities? Would you say the key is to infer your surroundings and work with what's in front of you?

I bet you have your own philosophy. Yes you. Perhaps it's helped propel you to do extraordinary things in your life. You've reasoned with life somehow.

My silly question is...

how did your philosophy get there -- was it arbitrary? What fortunate things happened that forever separated you from the rest?

I don't understand how you could live your whole life as if it were an accident why care about anything if it were just chance? why do you feel , why do you love, why do you care for your loved ones if they weren't meant to be here in the first place?. For those that say I'm just going to have as much fun as possible before i die, why? it doesn't matter you are no different from the dirt underneath my shoe.i am a Christian and have a reason for living. but if you don't believe in God for whatever reason ,you are just another object in this huge universe and that must be sad.

Over the past year or so I have seen countless blogs and discussions about the existence of God, faith vs. logic, our purpose, our reality, etc. - just about any argument that tries to validate our existence. I have realized that if someone truly believes in something it is as real to them as anything else in this world. All these discussions always end without answer and it has made me think: Isn't reality our own perception? I believe reality exists through our OWN senses and interpretation. Who is to say someone else is wrong or right? Who is to tell a blind man that he is wearing a red shirt? We all have completely different ways of sensing things - the only thing we happen to share are our five senses. The biggest mistake we always make is to believe that these senses are the only senses we have.
So does there exist an universal fact? Is there such a thing as a true reality?

we had a 2 day discussion on this. the entire class was with the eye for an eye sorta thing. if you murder a person(s) than you should die. The reasons they stated were pretty good: why should we have to pay tax to feed a killer and keep them alive in jail? the get what they deserve. some were against this but said: we would be teaching the killer that killing is okay in the end. i personally believe that if you have the thought in your head and you go and murder someone, than there is something wrong with you. thats just it. There is something mentally wrong with you. it is not natural for a human to desire killing their own kind. other people said, well maybe they had family issus. lots of people have family issues- they dont go around killing people. i think that it has something to do with the way a person can resond to a situation. the insight in their brains tells them to kill- its not right. they should be kept in a special mental hospital. no one can help being mentally ill.

1. Opinion 2. Fact 3. Truth 4. Reality

How do these things differ in your mind? It seems to me that there is often confusion and misunderstanding between people stemming from a lack of agreement as to what these terms mean. What do you think?

...before he ever met my biological grandmother. This would result in one of my parents and eventually myself from never being concieved. This would imply that I could not have travelled back in time in the first place, which in turn implies my grandfather would still be alive, and that I in fact would have been conceived - allowing me to travel back in time and kill my grandfather.

what is this called?
