I don't understand how you could live your whole life as if it were an accident why care about anything if it were just chance? why do you feel , why do you love, why do you care for your loved ones if they weren't meant to be here in the first place?. For those that say I'm just going to have as much fun as possible before i die, why? it doesn't matter you are no different from the dirt underneath my shoe.i am a Christian and have a reason for living. but if you don't believe in God for whatever reason ,you are just another object in this huge universe and that must be sad.

I am surprised that you asked this question, knowing that violent, insulting answers awaited you. The Atheist 'knows' that there is no God, just as a Christian 'knows' that Jesus is the savior our lord, amen. I would really love it if an Atheist could PROVE there was no God, just as I would Love it as a Christian could PROVE that WAS a God. How many Atheists believe in aliens? How many Christians believe in the missing link? Remember that people who take a stance will always be a target. People will insist that being average is better than Best. They delight in pulling the wings off butterflies because they themselves cannot fly. And for the devout, Judge not, lest ye be judged. To the non: sorry, no need to be insulting.

Actually Christians & Atheists agree on many things. Everyone believes we are made from the 'dirt'; Christians just believe God transformed the dirt, while Atheists think the transformation was a natural process. And everyone agrees that our bodies' biodegrade back into dirt, Christians just believe some essence of the mind survives, whereas Atheists generally do not.

We can all agree the physical NATURE of life is to collect energy, reproduce, and defend itself. What we disagree on is whether or not life has any PURPOSE beyond that.

Atheists feel the nature of life IS the point of life; Believers feel there must be something more. And you know what, maybe there is something more, but if there isn't, doesn't it make sense that the nature of life is to feel and love and care, because that is what it takes to make life continue?

Seriously, if Atheists think it's important to perpetuate the accident, and Believers think it's important to perpetuate the design, are you really that far apart? I mean you both think it's important to love and feel and care. Is it really that important WHY you think it's important?

I suspect, even if there is a God, that in the end we just die. And yeah, that's sad. Ah..but before we die, we live, and while we live we should spend more time trying to make this world better for each other and our children, and less time arguing where our spirits go.

You have a very profound question, that will raise a lot of eyebrows. You were very one sided and really didn't ask a question only gave commentary on your belief and stated; "Any other belief is wrong and beneath you." In this world there are many things we do not understand or have an answer too, because we are human with feelings and thoughts, we question everything around us; why is this ,that or another? One of the biggest questions we have in life is the existence of a God. You have stated without a doubt there is a God with no real proof. The only proof you have is your faith. Just because you are questioning your reason for living and being here and you believe that its because there is a God; doesn't make you right and it doesn't give you the right to stomp on others who don't see as you do. Believe in God that is your choice and your reason for living, because there are others who don't need this belief to get up in the mornings don't make them wrong. You or any other person that walks on this earth, doesn 't know for sure if there is or is not a God, if anyone says they know there is a God they are talking out their @$$. You have faith and faith is not proof.

Note; You are calling all who doesn't agree with you a monkey? It seems you are having a hissy fit. Whats with the name calling? You really had no point or question,
you just wanted to get on your soapbox and preach. You are a small little man with small and narrow mind and you have proven this for all to see. By the way we are closer to the chimpanzee then monkeys (They have tails). We; as in you, are seperated by a single chromosome. How can you say:" you have nothing in common with the great apes," when they have everything you have? How can you look at them and say; I'm not like them." You need to open your eyes and your mind.

To make thing better is a good reason have similiar philosophy to Jesus in which he said take care of people. The sad thing is when a people did this and formed a system in Russia with similiar ideas they were called evil Totalitarian. Greed truimphed over this idea. The point to life could be to find a way out of this mess. As said ''What use to fill your treasury with gold if there is no grain to feed people with''. The purpose must then be to feed people. Society has failed in instilling these values though. If there are more suggestions than to acknowledge Greed as problem place in building under seapration laws from state use religious Freedom to create place for people with this belief so things may improve want to know have only one idea would be good to aquire more. Constituition has means make All People The People in document. It is very sad that then put this way no one understands what is written in Constituition it is thought it applies only to nation with it but Russia had similiar ideas if phrased differently about The People. If Love was added not sure what would do. We The People Of Earth Love each other all other nations and hold are love for all to be self evident and hold the rights to all for this love to be returned. The planet and all on it have The Rights . Not sure if people will like this

Logic. That's the point.

Play connect-the-dots with your religious beliefs and you're not going to end up with a pitcure of anything. Well, perhaps a large plate of spaghetti.

Think like an intelligent, rational human being and you will be asking, 'God? (Allah? Jehovah? Jesus?) What's the point?"

I am an athiest and athiests have many reasons to live - more than you as a matter of fact.

You certainly have discovered the "Holier-Than-Thou" attitude of a Christian that symbolizes complete and utter ignorance. Good luck with that!

You believe in an omnipotent being that created the earth in 6 days, a few thousand years ago and lives on a cloud? Do you also believe in the Tooth Fairy? I thought natural selection weeded you people out before you became dangerous.

Most of the deaths throughout history are a direct result of religious beliefs and I would be more than happy to supply arguments for that if you would care to be enlightened. Email me: baronvonlipwig here at yahoo.

That's my $.02. Don't spend it all in one place.

Baron Von Lipwig

P.S. I'll take you on in an intellectual forum if you're not just in it for a reaction. If you have a mind, you will change it. Consider yourself challenged. You have my email.

P. P. S. I think you were trying to use the word 'except'. You really are an idiot if you don't even have the literacy of a fifth-grader. I guess you really aren't capable of an intelligent conversation. Oh, and by the way - if you want an intelligent conversation you need an open mind, not whatever excuse you have for that space between your ears. Who is closer to a monkey??

The last place I would like to be is in an afterlife filled with people like you.

And...

Easter Bunny Bless You. I really mean it.

I just don't need an ultimate cosmic reason for everything I do, and everything that happens to me. I don't think there's a reason why I'm here, but I am here, and I am alive, and I don't feel like killing myself. I want my life to be happy because I am only going to exist for a short period of time, and since I only get one shot at this I would rather have it be enjoyable than otherwise. True, I don't think I'm going to get to sit around and reflect on how awesome my life was, but I don't care. I exist now, and I want to make the best of it. I don't think of my life in terms of eternal consequences -since those consequences don't exist- but rather as a finite affair. It's over when I die; what will I leave behind?

I don't have a choice about feeling things, and neither do you. Emotions are part of the human condition, and I'm okay with the fact that that's just the way we are. Again, no need for a cosmic-scale reason. I care for loved ones and treat my friends well because I want people to like me, and the ultimate sadness would be to die alone and forgotten. This is the only world, and if I lose my place in it I am truly gone.

I take care of myself because the universe doesn't give a damn about me, and if I don't take care of myself, nobody will. I don't have Big Brother over my shoulder making sure it's all okay; I have my own two hands and the will to live. I don't find my ultimate insignificance troubling at all. In fact, there's nothing better than being outside on a cold winter night, seeing my minuscule fraction of the universe and contemplating how big it actually is, and how unlikely my birth is. It makes me appreciate how much I have, and how unlikely my own existence is. It makes me commit to making my life the best I can, rather than lying around feeling sorry for myself.

However, given the nature of your question, you seem like the kind of self-centered prick who can only be happy if he thinks the Grand Cosmic Creator of Absolutely Everything is regulating his feelings and cares about what's bothering him, so I don't expect this to go anywhere.

EDIT: In response to your comments: Ask a jackass question, get a jackass answer.

I'm not an atheist, but here's a way to understand it.
What was life like before you understood about God? Were you happy before knowing? Or did you have nothing to look forward to because you did not yet believe in a supreme being?
You were probably perfectly happy without knowing about God and didn't think about where you would be when your body gave you up.
Many atheists are happy to accept thinking that the randomness of their existence is unlikely, but cool, and that their existence in general is limited. Doesn't sound so sad.
Instead of looking at others from a Christian perspective, you learn about others by trying to look at things from their perspectives. If you try to understand someone by thinking that your way is the only way that is right, you will not get far.

I am a Christian and it always makes me feel sad when a fellow Christians attacks someones beliefs in a very insulting way.Your question is really a rant to show your hostility to someone who you see as below you. In the Bible,God says "Love one another as i love you." not just Christians , but everybody. Are you doing that ? Have you really examined your question ? Would you like someone to ask a similar question attacking you ? Somehow i am not surprised. I am a Catholic and some Christians dispise, ridicule and tell lies about the Catholic Church.I feel you may be one of them. Do you know that you are offending God deeply by how you are treating some of his children. They stand a better chance of getting to Heaven than you do.

Life has more meaning for me than for anyone who believes that this is inferior to an afterlife. See a therapist, emo kid.

Rina, the atheist says he doesn't believe in imaginary beings. Btw, I love loved ones, I love things that are real, at least, which is more than I can say for you.

"some of you did not answer my question"
That's because you question is retarded. What do I have to show in the end? The fact that I loved and was loved by real things.

"think DEEPER"
Christian speak for "believe in my god, dammit!" All I can do is feel sorry for you.

Yeah, it's called existentialism. If you get rid of god, then there is nothing telling you what is the point of living. Which kinda sucks, but that is what I believe. The purpose of life is whatever you make it. I think you should make yourself as happy as possible as long as you don't hurt other people. So you might think it is sad, but I don't see how god can exist, and yet I am still a happy and good person.
