Philosophy - August 2007

I'm 33 and have always travelled in cheap countries. I made a living out it - sans the income! I was never bored, always somewhere new, meeing new people, having crazy adventures. I considered myself lucky, free spirited, and alive.

Now, I don't have any money left, nothing physical to show for myself, and I can't just take off and go travel. I have fallen into a lull, and I can't motivate myelf to do anything.

I don't want to get a boring 9-5 (And then I'll be trapped in one place in one job!) But, I don't know what else to do either. I guess I've always 'run away' before by travelling and now I can't I actually have to face my situation.

I would love to start up my own business but I don't know in what. I am interested in diet and fitness, but with no funds and no motivation it makes it all kind of difficult. :( How can I make money doing something I enjoy? How can I motivate myself to find that thing? How can I keep travelling without MONEY???

Say there is a way to save a couple of gravely ill people by sacrificing a healthy normal person.

Would you do it ?

Life is very wide. It is full of different kinds of events. It has many aspects. It is like a big mystery. Is life has one meaning? Is it has several meanings? What is the true meaning of life in your opinion?

So after the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know!?" it got me thinking about that one thing where if you don't look at an object, the object could be in an infinite of different places. (I'm pretty sure there's a name for that theory)

Anyway, so if I have a friend place a ball somewhere behind me, and before I turn around, the ball could be anyway behind me. The only one that would know is him. Isn't that saying him and I are in "alternate realities"? His is the one with the ball, and mine is the one without, and only when I turn around, his reality and my reality combines with other people's reality and together forms what is everything essentially. I hope I'm making sense. :P

Are we meant to live just to enjoy life or live to make a difference in the world? Maybe even something other than that.

I guess I could make that decision in 3 seconds by saying I do as I sincerely feel that changing myself for the better can make a difference to my life.

For others, they may take months, years to change or they might never.

So Today i figured i'd go ahead and answer as many questions as possible so that i could get to level 2 and give thumbs down for all the stupid answerers out there.... Only to find out that i've reached my answering "limit" for today.

And now i've just lost 5 points by asking a stupid question.....

:D

A related question is what is your notion of free will? I see two "natural" notions of free will. In the first, we have free will only if we can break any law of nature whatsoever that could control us. The second is the one that I propose in the question : we have free will if we are the laws of nature.

I cannot accept the first notion because it is too much against the foundation of science. So, I am left with the second one. This other one does make sense because, if you are the laws of nature, then you have no reason to feel that you are controlled. You control. I know that most people do not think that they are the laws of nature, but this is only because we think of the laws of nature as something that is separated from the world.

I guess by laws of nature, I mean the reality. The reality (or the Reality) does not need outside laws; it contains its own laws. It is the home of all laws. Because, ultimately, we are the Reality, we are right to feel that we have free will.

I had to re-ask this question because I think I needed to expand on it a little more for it to catch ppl's eye, and besides it is more unique than "Whats the meaning of life???" i SWEAR im getting tired of seeing tht question on here.
