If death of 1200 million people across the world means something... then it definitely is the end of the world! In the coming world war 3 expected around 2010 ~ 2012 it shall be a fight to finish between Christianity and Islamic Dharma! Truly... a cat and dog fight! Both these religions are fanatic in nature! Unable to forgive each other... they shall practically annihilate themselves.

The precipitation of world war three shall occur due to improper soldiering by United States of America... the so-called superpower number one! Pressure techniques... lie and deceit has become the order of the day in international relationships. Mutual trust at its lowest ebb... the only solution is to fight out the matter!

Time has come for David to rule. Goliath shall be defeated in the coming world war three. World war 3 announces the coming of Bhagwan Kalki... an Avatar of the era (God manifesting human form). Dharma is to be upheld at all costs! In the circumstances... in the present Kali Yuga (the metal age)... even Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and prophet Mohammed would fail!

In the present Kali Yuga we find same circumstances as existing during times of Lord Krishna (an Avatar of the era)! Bhagwan Kalki... the annihilator of Kali Yuga... one who shall uphold ethical and moral values shall be a logistical exterminator! Finding no reprieve in sight... Bhagwan Kalki (the chosen one)... mounted with godly powers shall cast his spell on mankind forever.

Beyond 2014 dawns the golden era (aka Satyuga in Hinduism)! The melting snow caps would increase the sea level by about 10 to 12 feet! Almost 1000 feet high waves would become common. Most coastal belts washed away... world war three shall announce the end of Australian continent! Almost one third of UK would submerge underwater.

Acid rains and absence of sun rays for days together would trigger absolute chaos! The events of world war three are really frightening... all resulting from the mass karma performed by community world over. More on End of the World 2012 - http://www.godrealized.com/2012.html

It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolpse.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

Yes, eventually the world will end. If not in a few hundred years time, then in a few million years time. This world was not meant to last forever. If the world is not hit by an asteroid, and if global warming doesn't bake us all, and if the moon isn't hit by an asteroid and crumble and fall down to earth, and if people do not all destroy themselves in some pointless war, then in a few million years the sun will turn red and eventually die and erupt or explode or do whatever happens when the sun dies. I do believe that the world is destined to end, although I can't say when, and it will probably be because of a world war, or maybe a combination of some of the choices listed above. Anyway, the real question is, out of all those choices, how would you prefer the world to end?

Everything has a beginning and an end.
Every ending is just a new beginning.

"World is going to end" ... means Earth will cease to exist. Science is saying that in about 4 billion years the Sun will start to expand and consume (in fire) Mercury, Venus, and Earth (most likly). Then the Sun will shrink to the size of a dwarf star.

Another astronomic worry is that the galaxy Andromidos will merge with the Milky Way (where our Sun & Earth are) and this could cause the Sun to cease (thereby ending the Earth). Then we can also be afraid of piercing light coming from other galaxies melting us.

Oh, did you mean "Civilization is going to end"? Again, everything has it's beginning and end. I do believe civilization as we know it will end and a new one will be created. The Bible calls this "Revelation" with destruction of civilization, Judgement, followed by 1,000 years of peace (who understands God's time???).

I believe that it will, but we can not perdict when exactly it will. I'm a die-hard Christian, so my reasoning is going to be a lot different than Science's reasoning behind in ending of the planet. I agree with the other person. Why obsess over it? If the whole planet shall end, then what are we humans to do about it? Nothing can live forever, not even the rock we live upon. Our lives are too short to obsess about the dying of the planet. Yes, everybody should live Green and try our mest to make the environment last as long as it can, but we must be accepting of the planet's death. Nothing can live forever.
I'm not afraid of dying or of the Planet dying. Heaven is by far a better place. :)

The world ends often from an individual and national perspective. The person who has lost his/her spouse sees the end of his/her world and deals with the struggle to create it anew. America's relaxed and confident world was shattered on 9/11. Scientific breakthroughs such as the discovery of a heliocentric system can also destroy the world as people know it. On a happier note, the anticipation of and birth of a child can renew and reshape a world.

It's all just a matter of perspective.

Okay There's a lot of information and talk about December 21, 2012, but I dont think the world is actually going to end, theres a chance, but nobody knows 100 percent. I think something big will happen on that date or leading up to that date, or maybe even after, that could change our planet forever, maybe we'll actually start getting along for once, and I heard if it was like that, its a new age of aquarius, meaning new technology and enlightment, so there might be something bad happening to get us to something amazing. and maybe we won't blow it and keep recking the earth. lets just say good luck :)!

if by the world, you mean Earth, than I think the world will end. Whether we do it to ourselves, or some cosmic force does it (meteor, black hole) etc, all organic things eventually die.

However, if the world mean all things (planets, solar systems, universes, etc, then no I don't think the world will end. There cannot be God with something for him/her to create.
