I'm 33 and have always travelled in cheap countries. I made a living out it - sans the income! I was never bored, always somewhere new, meeing new people, having crazy adventures. I considered myself lucky, free spirited, and alive.
Now, I don't have any money left, nothing physical to show for myself, and I can't just take off and go travel. I have fallen into a lull, and I can't motivate myelf to do anything.
I don't want to get a boring 9-5 (And then I'll be trapped in one place in one job!) But, I don't know what else to do either. I guess I've always 'run away' before by travelling and now I can't I actually have to face my situation.
I would love to start up my own business but I don't know in what. I am interested in diet and fitness, but with no funds and no motivation it makes it all kind of difficult. :( How can I make money doing something I enjoy? How can I motivate myself to find that thing? How can I keep travelling without MONEY???

you should find a job you like that requires traveling, like a reporter maybe.

The only thing I can tell you is that every one I've ever known who had their own business usually worked 12 hours a day almost 7 days a week. It's very difficult to run your own business and actually make good many without spending 80 hours a week working their butts off. As for motivation once you've hit rock bottom, which you haven't yet, you'll either become motivated and matured or find yourself out on the street joining the other bag ladies.

Well first of all, if your not motivated to work, you will be when you run out of money to live on. so the motivation will come in time. Since you enjoy traveling you could always take up photographic journalism- traveling to interesting places and taking pictures, but in terms of starting your own business. you need money and an idea, and i can't give you an idea of what you would be good at without knowing you personally, im sorry.

Have you ever thought about the Peace Corps? It might be a good experience for you. You could travel, help people, and learn more about who you are as a person. Bonus is that no money is needed to go. It's worth looking into. My friend did it and she liked it.
Info:
In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps to promote world peace and friendship.
The Peace Corps' mission has three simple goals:
Helping the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
Helping promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served.
Helping promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.

To me and to anyone else who reads this your obvious passion is travelling so why not find a job which involves travelling? There are sooo many jobs now-a-days which do incorperate travelling and you just need to be positive and get off your butt and think if i don't find a job then i won't be able to do the thing i love. And let;s face it job satisfaction is how much you enjoy your job. Go for it, find a job which is something you love. What have you got to lose?

I don't think the question is as much CAN you ask three questions as it is MAY you ask three questions. From your post, it is clear you CAN ask them. In answer to your questions, if you are male, there are several cruise lines who offer a male "escort" program where you can take a certain number of cruises per year for free. You must know how to dance, playing bridge helps too. You must have proper evening wear and be clean and tidy. On the trip, you are required to dance and converse with single ladies. Basically it's The Love Boat Meets American Gigolo. But it is free. Hope that helps. Pax - C

im not really that experienced in this, but for the time being i would say get a light job that offers a decent amount of money and meet a partner/friend who is interested in the same thing as you are and together you can pool your money and make ur own business!! last resort, is to go to ur parents OR your family

Could you do volunteering or something? I've heard about companies which pay you to go and teach English to kids in Africa, or build...animal sanctuaries and stuff like that. And they pay you, or just provide you with meals and accommodation for the duration. Sound up your street?
I'm not exactly sure where to hear about them, but I expect a google search would help (look for stuff about gap years if youre stuck) or if you can spare a quid 50, try the ads in the big issue :)

I don't understand. You didn't want to be bored. You didn't want to feel unlucky, trapped, lacking in spirit or dead. You did exactly what you wanted. You learned the cost of doing what you want.
The money you spent on being free is money that would have allowed you to open your business. You have now learned that there are consequences to doing what we want. You can at least be content that you did something to make yourself happy then, without seeing the future that you were putting into motion.
People who don't understand boredom will find themselves in these situations over and over again. I hope you come to understand boredom.

You sound perfect to be a travel agent or travel guide. Travel agencies are looking for people who have lots of travel experience. They provide travel opportunities for their employees so that they can speak from experience when they recommend destinations.
