If so - Do you like who you are?

Ephiphany and the like aside, considering what each of us goes through in our life and what we continue to go through every day you would think that more of us would become the wise man on top of the mountain. Yet, we struggle and spend energy on that which does not matter, (Britney, Anna NIchole, Lohan, talk shows and what have you.) so at what point do you say, OK that's it, More depth less surface? When will we achieve true wisdom?

To me it's either right or wrong, good or bad, or you don't have enough information to make that assessment.

We have all seen situations in which a human being is struggling to live with some level of decency, whether the need is financial, psychological, physical or of any other character. And there are lives which when we look at , we shudder to think of our own selves in those situations, simply because they are so difficult. In this context, is it better to choose to die if you cannot help it or feel so, or to keep on going, and keep struggling. There are people in depressing situations. The contexts are sometimes politically created as in war, sometimes due to famine, poverty and dislocation, sometimes due to violence, sometimes due to chronic mental illness, and sometimes due to fatal physical illnesses or conditions such as coma. And sometimes waiting or hanging on has costs other than those to yourself, such as costs to those or all that which is supporting you in your quest to succeed. What should a person caught in such a loop do?

" . . . I have heard the Mermaids singing each to each.

I do not know if they'll sing for me.

I have seen them riding seaward on the waves.
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back.
When the wind blows the water white and black.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea,
by sea-girls wreathed with seaweed, red and brown.

TILL HUMAN VOICES WAKE US AND WE DROWN."

For those not acquainted with this poem, you may benefit by googling IT in its' entirety - or if you choose, please do ascertain from your own gut feelings!

I would really enjoy reading what ANYONE interested would have to say, their comprehension is from individual interpretation.

I thank you!!!
Grace. (Buddhist).

Some psycholigists claim there is no such thing as true altruism as the good feeling we get from commiting an act of selflessness to benefit others but not ourselves is in itself a reward.
What is your opinion? Do you ever do things which you consider to be altruistc?

I wanted to simply ask 'why.' The question has to be at least 10 characters in length, and so I had to add the last two words.

I wanted to also leave this detail area blank, because the one word in the question is remarkably deep from a certain perspective. I wanted to and intended to ask the question of one word in a philosophical context.

So, pray tell me- Why?

The baby is also mentally handicaped.

If you don't like kitten/puppies that imagine the animal to be the world's cutest baby panda or something similar but not human.
