A desire is like a concept, an idea, a dream, a passion, a feeling, a dream, - in this way it will never die. Once a dream or idea etc is conceived by thought, it becomes part of a vast consciousness & will forever exist to be felt/thought again & again.
I think even specific desires like feeling like a glass of OJ & a biscuit after watching the simpsons one friday evening before your trip to the theatre the following day.... well things like that will either cease or be satisfied. But it still forms part of your consciousness, & ultimately that of the universe.
I think when you die you will not personally be desiring things in some eternally unfulled state of being. I think those desires will just remain in the whole consciousness of the fabric of the universe.

End to desires?? that's a good question.
Well yeah, we will have desires all our life no matter how good our life is. Having desires after death? It's hard to say because if you believe in rebirth, where the soul takes rest for a while until rebirth, then maybe yeah, there will desires in the soul until rebirth. If you believe in that the soul enters the Heaven for eternity and no rebirth stuff, then again, maybe there will still be desires. But there are some people that believe in nothingness when a person dies, meaning there is no such thing as the soul going to Heaven or rebirth or anything else, it's just plain nothingness.
Well, maybe it's because of desires thats why people say there's rebirth. The soul takes rebirth to fulfill it's desires. If I elaborate more, I'm going to get confused myself and so as you, so I'll just end my answer here.
Hope you got my point of view.

End to desires is the most desired state which can only be attained in theory.... in practice, a wise person would try to minimize desires to some manageable levels so as to do damage control against what unbridled desires can do to us.
As to death, yes I believe desires remain afflicting our soul even after death.

You cannot end desire. What you CAN do is end the power of desire to rule your life. You cannot stop yourself from wanting, but you can stop allowing your happiness to be determined by whether or not you get the thing you want.

I think the desires end when you end. Your spirit may live on but I believe your desires will not.

Once one desire is fulfilled, others take its place. We are human. Desire is what keeps societies in balance. It makes us selfish. It makes us selfless.

I think there is no end. Everyday, everyone desires something. Whether, it is food, money, or sex. It is always something.
