People use "love" as if it were an act of "giving" when really, in its most brute form, is an act of "taking."

People only love people because it makes THEM feel good. They wouldn't love anyone if it didn't make them feel a certain way.

So essentially, people only love others for themselves.

Itsn't it all a phoney, theatrical act??

Even when a mother says she loves her own child, she really only does so because it HER child and she wants to protect HER offspring. Because it is part of her.

A man or a woman who claim they love their spouse only do so because THEY THEMSELVES get something out of it.

It could be company, sex, money, security, helpful hand etc.

Nobody would love anyone if there was nothing in it for themselves.

People who adopt kids and love them only do it so they can feel good about themselves or pat themselves on the back. They think it's good karma or they'll get rewarded for it by God.

It sounds very depressing, but isn't that the cold hard truth??

I've always wondered this, as in my experience I have heard many people refer to different religions as being races e.g. "muslim race", but I'm not sure whether that is right. Can a religion be a race? Can a particular lifestyle be a race e.g. Goths?

Dictionary explanations are welcome - if relevant and if possible with elaboration.

It seems to me that free will could only exist if we did things for no reason at all. But when do we do that. I think every behavior has a purpose, which rules out other behaviors as possibilities. I also think that nothing occurs without sufficient cause. I like to believe that I have a free will, but there doesn't seem to be any room for it in the rules of causation. Perhaps, free will just seems real because we don't have the capacity to understand all the sufficient causes of an occurence. Reading "The Problem of the Soul" by Owen Flanigan really got me thinking about this stuff. What do you think? Is free will just an illusion?

Someone said that happens when God wants to decorate Heaven so he picks us up like flowers when the time is right. A childlishly simplisitic question but I still want to know 'cause it just doesn't make sense. We need good people more on Earth than he needs them in Heaven. He's all right by Himself but truly good people are a bliss. Anyways, I just got really sad at finding out about Steve Irwin's death and also, years ago, about Alyiah's.
