How about reward for work? You know; behaviorism? The basic idea of capitalism is that if a person invests their money, and therefore risks losing it, they are only going to do so if they get a profit or at least an opportunity to profit.
Businesses need money to run on. Heck, families and individuals do, too, and so do non-profit organizations and even governments. Everyone needs money to run on. If they don't have it themselves, they need to earn it or borrow it. They don't simply go down to the bank and borrow money. They find someone (maybe a bank, maybe not) who believes they will make a profit by investing their money in the project at hand.
What, non-profit organizations need profit? Of course they do: they need other people's profit. Only when a person is prosperous enough to spend money on doing good (even with the tax breaks for it) will they donate in significant amounts to a non-profit. The "profit" is the people they serve: the grocery bags the Grey Bears hand out, the hospital visits McDonald's makes possible at Ronald McDonald House, etc.
Capitalism is the theory that money matters. It is as simple as that. It may not be all that matters, but it matters.

Psycological theory was founded in the time in which the Capitalism was predominate in the world. Psychological theory has more of a base within capitalistic societies and hence has an interest in the capitalistic social model. Since its growth has been developed from within this Capitalistic society it is a form of cognitive dissidence. This is the best answer I would have on this subject.
