Studying music or even taking private lessons for an instrument is a time-consuming activity. So would studying music be a form of intellectual activity. In other words, does studying music count as an intellectual interest?

I feel that my calling lies in music, but I am also feeling lost. My fatigue and lack of motivation comes partly from my draining, unsatisfying and consuming job. I think about working on music all the time and work on it every day, but sometimes my vision fails me.

Other people tell me that it is impossible to make money from music, and perhaps from a certain point of view they're right.

There are other things that interest me, but I've never really sustained serious interest in anything else for a good amount of time.

Right now I'm sort of drifting and exploring career opportunities.

All right, so my guy friend asked if I wanted to do a duet with him for a school choir audition. We both sing fairly well, I must admit, BUT NOT TO BRAG, I DO have more training than he does. So, we want a song that's kind of easy, but fun to sing. Preferably Broadway style, something from a classic show. I don't think we want it to be TOO girly, but I guess it can be a love song. Maybe contemporary pop or something modern, but that also has a Broadway-type tune to it. If you have any questions, I'll add more details!

I really want to become a singer!

Preferrably nothing *too* religious...and my voice is either one of two extremes...really high in my head voice or extremely low in my chest voice (but I can't really use my head voice to sing low and vice-versa). I'm a first soprano, but I can belt alto. Also, I don't want to sing a really popular and over-done song--I don't want to be outsung by someone else who'd be doing the same thing. :)

Thanks!

In the song "What You Own", Roger and Mark are singing about lilving in America, then they start stating how bad they're lives are and eventually shout "I quit!" then immediately go into the lines

Dying in America
At the end of the millenium
We're dying in America
To come into our own

While singing this, they are on a rooftop and kind of looking over the edge, but then they see each other and sing @I'm not alone" and walk away from the edge.

My question is, are they (or maybe only Mark) contemplating suicide by jumping off, but then like realising they're not the only ones who feel that way so decide not to.

Sorry if this question is kinda confusing, I don't really know how to put it.

I heard my teacher said:"The orchestra of New York Metropolitan Opera doesn't reherse before the opera is performed.""The members of the orchestra only have one chance to rehearse,on the stage."

Is it true?

guitar guy is often late & forgets 2 put dates on his calendar--Double books self, forgets dates & books vacations w/ family over already book gigs.He gets subs last min.The dates R important high-pay high profile gigs. It would be fine but the subs don't know all material. It recently happened again & it irked the band. This date had been booked for a year and he didn't even appologize! The only sub available is a guy we rarely play with.
Since the guitar player & I R the closest the band asked me 2 write gripes down on paper & ask him 2 change. I offered to help him with his calendar program. The biggest thing he got mad about was that I dissed his $ store calendar & suggested he get a palm pilot or Franklin planner. He said that is how his family does it & it was a slam on his family. I just wanted to help him become a better biz guy & now he's quit! Am I out of line trying 2 get this good musician to treat his music like a business? Wouldn't he already been fired at a regular job?

1)Does every scale have the same amount of notes in it and the same amount of steps? 2)If I play in the scale of A major for example, does that mean that all of the notes in that scale are available to be used in the composition and that all other notes that are not in the scale are excluded and would ruin the piece if they were there? 3) If I were to compose my own piece in a particular scale, does that mean I have to use all the notes in that scale at least once, or can I just pick a few of the notes from the scale that I want to use? 4) Does using a scale mean that I can just take whatever notes happen to be in that scale and arrange them any way I want to and they will end up sounding reasonably good?
5) Are there songs that use all the notes that exist? 6) Does the scale apply to the song as a whole, or just to individual progressions within the song? Are all the progressions in a song related somehow, or can there be multiple progressions using more than one scale?
