So, I was thinking of looking into a Toronto talent/casting agency to make some extra cash on my free time. I'm just looking for simple commercial stuff, nothing fancy as I wouldn't fit the description of a fashion model. :P

Yes, I can go look at the phone book or Google but I don't know the city because I'm new and was wondering if anyone had some experience with any or some recommendations or something along those lines to help.

Thanks!

In June my dance school is going to put on a production of Cats and the entire school is going to be in it. When i was checking the cast list i saw that i was one of the "Poms". what exactly are the "Poms"? There are four of us who have that part. Do the "Poms" have a special dance ( i take ballet). I read the play on its website but it never mentioned "Poms". So if you could clear this up for me that would be great. Thnx!!

Yes, I'll admit it's impressive when I hear someone play an instrument in an amazingly fast and complex way but that kind of music is meaningless to me. It's like a merchant who has perfected his sales pitch and can talk so perfectly that you think you must buy his product.

I much prefer people who use their music to convey emotions and feelings rather than to showcase their unbelievable hand speed. I'll agree that there is a time and place for everything but doing everything virtuoso is not good music. A virtuoso is more of an entertainer than an artist.

I'm looking for the name of a comedian I saw on Comedy Central a while back. The bit I saw him perform was attempting to play a musical piece on the piano (I believe it was "The Entertainer"). Each time he started, something was wrong, so he'd adjust his position, adjust his clothes, but it wasn't until he finally turned on the lamp by the sheet music that he's able to finish playing the piece correctly. He never spoke during the part I saw. Who is he?

I am in my early teens and have many hobbies. I enjoy gymnastics, acting, singing, making movies(and other behind the scenes jobs in the movie/TV industry), and a few other things. I recently realized that they are all some sort of performing whether it be in front of people or cameras. I love to perform, but a lot of times I am too shy to show it. I also want to look into possibly one of those things (or similar) for my career. I want to do something I love when I get older and not have just a boring desk job. I am torn between everything. I have no professional experience in any of those things. I am not the best actor or singer, but I am willing to learn to get better.

Any tips to get me going in the right direction would help. Please serious answers only.

I've got an upcoming audition and have been asked to perform a musical number from a broadway show. I want to do something that's not too mainstream (it would be nice if no one else performs the same song) but not so far off the beaten path that they won't know the song. Nothing from Grease obviously, I think probably 50% of the auditions will wind up being Grease tunes. HA! My range runs from high tenor to high high 1st soprano. I'd like something "fun". Any suggestions?!

We are all in our highschool's advanced orchestra, and we have formed a trio. Problem is we don't have any music. We are all pretty good(not Juliard good, but pretty good), so we can play some stuff of moderate difficulty (easy isn't bad either).

Are there any pieces you would suggest?

P.S. I know a quartet would be better, but there aren't any available cellists.

There are a host of duff sites like www.auditions.com which purport to be 'Auditions Listing' sites but are just cheap Click Thru money makers.

Are there any genuine web portals where quality professional and/or amateur/semi-pro auditions and open casting call notices are posted? (Regional, National or International)
