I am in my early teens and have many hobbies. I enjoy gymnastics, acting, singing, making movies(and other behind the scenes jobs in the movie/TV industry), and a few other things. I recently realized that they are all some sort of performing whether it be in front of people or cameras. I love to perform, but a lot of times I am too shy to show it. I also want to look into possibly one of those things (or similar) for my career. I want to do something I love when I get older and not have just a boring desk job. I am torn between everything. I have no professional experience in any of those things. I am not the best actor or singer, but I am willing to learn to get better.
Any tips to get me going in the right direction would help. Please serious answers only.

The only problem with persuing my dream is that none of my family realizes that I really want to do this and I am only 14 and can not take myself to auditions or an acting school without my parents

Let your family know how you feel about the passions that you have....they may be more understanding than if you don't let them know...also, you don't want to be forced into doing something that you don't want to do because they don't know what it is that you like...
If you feel uncomfortable abou telling them, then just start out by doing some research and making some solid decisions.....so that you will have a game plan together!
For starters, I would say pray about it and see what God has to say...
But, if you enjoy singing and making movies...you can't be shy to do that...you may need to see if you can take some classes to get rid of the fears you have...
Next, I would suggest that you check into some things that you could do behind the scenes in the entertainment industry...maybe some type of coaching or writing or cinematography...
Some people are talented in a lot of areas, but are more successful behind the scenes....

Why not go to acting school? it seems like you have many talents and since you are willing to train and like being in the lime light, an acting school seems like a good direction. Many different actors are needed for different movies, ones that can sing, dance etc. Try to look for a studio to get started. If you are young and have patience then you will eventually get what you want. Good luck!
You can also try to look online to be an extra. When movies are being made, extras are always needed (the people in the crowds). This is a good way to start and see if you like acting, it's also a good way to make money on the side while you are pursuing something else.

Whatever you do remember that educations is the answer. Do you think that a fan of football is a better fan if they know something about the game. Weather you become a star or a fan the more you know the better you'lll understand, the better you'l perform. Education is the key to controlling your own destiny, remember your always good enough and you can do anything that you put your mind to - it may take many hours of hard work and sacrifices that others may not understand - in the mean time study - study - study

Hi there, I want to commend you on thinking about your future at your age. This tells me in the years to come, you will be paying attention when you find something that makes your brain and your heart happy. That combination is a great recipe for a wonderful career. I think you should keep doing all of the things you have been doing and keep trying new things too. One day it will hit you right between the eyes.
Keep searching but have fun with all of your interests. You sound like a real winner to me. I wish you the best!

First RELAX, you're only 14. As an ex professional actor, director, producer and stage manager I know the dilemma....
Get your parents to buy you a paperback called ACTING PROFESSIONALLY by Robert Cohen. It is the most realistic book on the subject.
Secondly, keep trying them all....your natural talent will win out and the "right" direction will find YOU. I was nearing the end of college before things headed out for me.

Start looking into classes or college. my cousin goes to a school of preforming arts and it's very rigorus. You really have to be dedicated to attend one of thoes schools especially because it is so physically demanding.
When searching for schools there are certain things to look for: the instructor's real world experience. Location, price. And probably a million other things. You could probably get some good replys if you sign up on a dance forum, talk to people who actually take thoes courses and see if it's right for you!
good luck.

If youre into performing arts, join a local theater. they can help you work on stage fright and shyness. it's easier to get bigger and better jobs once youve had some experience. if you don't want to be the actor, try getting some cheep cameras and stuff and make your own movie or something, put it on youtube. i know people who have gotten discovered before, just from youtube.

My friend Aida entered the amtc competition and was chosen out of many people because they thought she had talent in modeling. She then got a chance to go to Florida to perform in front of pros. She could have become famous but dropped out because she didn't like it. You should find something like that so you can have a chance to do something you love professionally. You can compete in singing dancing acting or modeling. She entered all of them but only won modeling. The person who plays agnus in the suite life went there and became famouse because of amtc. A lot of celebs have become famous because of amtc. Also you can go to acting school but don't get your hopes up. My uncle went to acting school and spent years trying to become an actor. He wasted several years and failed to become an actor.

I feel the same way!! But if I were you, I'd forget about being shy. Realize that you're specially gifted for a reason. Ask God about it; I'm sure He has GREAT plans for your talents!
Then try to join a theater group. Not only will it help you conquer shyness (it helped me) but you will be able to maximize your talents as well by performing!
But if you really think about it, here you are with your gifts and talents. God's the only one who knows how you can fully enjoy them. So why not ask Him to guide you? :)
