Weeds cry

Dry, dry, brown, crackly, dead stalks, dry.
Yet dear weed, you lift your green head to the sky
Thunder rolls it beats the sky
Clouds getting darker they roll by.
Cats and kittens and many a child
Will hide as thunder gets so wild
Soon the rain, the skies will cry
All gone the brown, the dry, dry.

Oh weed, other plants will now bloom
Your time alone, the only green, will be gone soon
People pour out to feel the rain.
Farmers, gardeners will feel less pain
Colours of every kind will abound
Beauty once more will be all around
Yet will any-one remember the weed
Yes, I’ll look forward to your new seed

I'm Australian and it's the end of a hot summer.

My hand is reaching,
Your eyes are closed.
The art of teaching,
His face so posed…
It will change you soon.

Your skin so soft,
His face is old?
The ageing loft,
Memories un-told…
Are where your secrets lie.

I had nothing to do, and was inspired lol...please no nasty comments - best answer will be picked if I recieve reasonable replies =)

my teacher told us to right a poem dipicting the most stong and over welming emotion thats we ever edured. i chose pain, tell me if this is at least a passing grade to turn in.i cant turn in anything below a c+ if i wanna get to 7th grade.

i've been torn down for so long
tought that all my answers are wrong
striving to find solid ground
people steady tearing me down
tried my hardest, but it didnt matter
under pressure from pain
watch me scatter
my head head held low
figured hell is the only place for me to go
pain is what had me for so long
thats the only reason i'm not strong

I'm preparing a presentation on how form is one of the best contemporary devices; does anyone have any examples of how normal form in literature, poetry and film has been pushed beyond expected boundaries?

For example, Mark Z Danielewski's "House of Leaves" isn't just prose, it's fictional newspaper articles, letters, clippings etc ... Ang Lee's "Hulk" is like a film version of a comic book, with panels etc.

Does anyone have any more examples like these? Thanks!

child did very well last year with little preparation but it became apparent that it wasn't a level playing field competition
virtually all the medal winners had undergone private coaching:-)
looking for tips/books/web sites on what examiners look for - not necessarily for child to win a medal but to provide them with more than a fair chance. thanks!

I don't really have the impression that it is. However, I grew up in the '70s so I might be prejudiced. In addition, I live in a cultural backwater, so maybe you can educate me !
I know of a few good lines by the folk singer, John Prine, concerning the war in Iraq. But that is about it.
Sorry to go looking for a positive aspect of this horrible situation - it's just my nature (and it really annoys my husband!)

I, having loved ever since I was a child a few things, never having
wavered
In these affections; never through shyness in the houses of the
rich or in the presence of clergymen having denied these
loves;
Never when worked upon by cynics like chiropractors having
grunted or clicked a vertebra to the discredit of those loves;
Never when anxious to land a job having diminished them by a
conniving smile; or when befuddled by drink
Jeered at them through heartache or lazily fondled the fingers of
their alert enemies; declare

That I shall love you always.
No matter what party is in power;
No matter what temporarily expedient combination of allied
interests wins the war;
Shall love you always.

LOVE is anterior to life,
Posterior to death,
Initial of creation, and
The exponent of breath.

-Emily Dickinson

What are your thoughts and reflections on this poem by dear one Emily Dickinson? This is not another "help me with my homework question", I promise you. I'm looking for serious, deep, reflective thoughts you'd be willing to share. Thanks!

Love them, natural science is my son's favorites and I love the fine art exhibits of master works. We both have super fun at the kids museum when they have a huge "mouth" and you can sit on the teeth and learn about good dental care and the human body.

Knife's are falling all around, with you dodging up and down, then you think is there any point dodging when my life is'nt worth living, then you stop and the knifes stop falling,then you move and then there again! Life is so confusing,when you stop choosing, then by surprise one hits you from the side, as you lay there in pain no one cares for you, but yourself in vain. Your friend walks in and sees you there all they can do is stop and stair, slowly but surely they start breaking down, in deep despair!

Please read the rest of my poems!
