Read this poem and see if it moves you:

Invictus

by William Ernest Henley; 1849-1903

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

The best poem I've ever read is called "Travelling Through Woods on a Snowy Evening" and it's by Robert Frost.

Another good one is called "The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls" by Henry Longfellow

"Horses On The Camargue" - Roy Campbell
"The Moon Is Up" - Alfred Noyes
"Sea Fever" - John Masefield

Hope these help you. I can send you the full poems by email if you like?

I believe that the teacher wants YOU to read some poems and then choose one with a nice message. Your teacher did not mean for you to come here and ask others to do your owkr for you. You need to do it yourself.
