I am looking at Spain, and when the textsbook talk about a Golden Age, they talk about the age of exploration at Spains Golden Age. But, during the 7 centuries of rule on the Muslims, the first 300 years could also be considered a Golden Age, so I am wondering if there can be more.

This might be a dificult question...

I recall a proffesor in college telling us a bout a battle where Alexander took among his men those with the best sight. He had them look a wall of a city he was about to attack and ask them to estimate the height of the wall. Then Alexander lined the men from the smallest estimate to the largest and picked the middle man on the line. Then Alexander used this man estimate to build the ladders to climb the wall.

This event by the way its an interesting refference to the use of the statistical median.

Please let me know where I can find any refference to this or this historical battle.

My history teacher said in class that Hitler personaly recruited Lindbergh as a "spy" and promted him to speak against American intervention in the war. I know that Lindbergh did vist Germany and Europe and spoke against going to war, but calling him a personal spy of Hitler sounded a litte extreame. Any info on this would be helpful.

I've been doing some reading about Israel and it seems the Jewish people have no real property claim on the land. "After World War I, the League of Nations approved the British Mandate for Palestine with the intent of creating a "national home for the Jewish people". The Arab League rejected the plan, but on May 14, 1948, Israel declared its independence. Since then, Israel has been in conflict with many of the neighboring Arab countries, resulting in several major wars and decades of violence. America has fought people off its borders at numerous times in its history. Why does it support Israel who is essentially encroaching on Palestinian territory?

Reading about WWII and began to wonder. People worked 12-14 hour shifts voluntarily, did without, chipped in their time/money for free, pulled together (mostly) etc. Do you think a similar war would bring out the same behaviour in today's UK?
